ظهرت هذه اللوحة عام (1862)، لوحة واقعيّة للرسّام الروسي (فاسيلي بوكيريف)، اذ يرسم في هذه اللوحة مراسم زفاف رجل مسن وفتاة صغيرة تبدو غير سعيدة بهذا الزواج. يظهر( بوكيريف) في اللوحَة خلفَ العروس مُباشرة أقصى اليمين مكتوف اليدين وشارد الذّهن، أمامه تقف العروس حزينة يائسة، ويُعتقد أنّ( بوكيريف) رسمَ نفسَه وسط الحضور دليلا على أنّ القصة لحُبٍّ مغدورفي حياتِه الشخصيّ، على يمين العروس يقف والدها يتطلع لها بوجهٍ وقحٍ لا مُبالي فيما يجتمع عدد صغير مِن الحضور كبارِ السن. مهارة الرسام تتجلى في تصويره لبراءة الطفلة عيناها متورمتان من كثرة البكاء كما أنها لا تنظر إلى الكاهن الذي يستعد لالباسها الخاتم وتبدو كما لو أنها تفقد قوتها ببطء حتى الشمعة التي تحملها في يدها اليسرى يخيل للناظر آنها على وشك أن تسقط. قوبلت اللوحة باحتفاء في الأواسط الفنّيّة وقت عرضها لأنّها عالجت إحدى أشهر المواضيع الّتي ارتبطت بصعود الحداثة ورأس المال في تلك الفترة وهي الزواج غير المُتكافئ الذي لازم التجارة ونقل البضائع ونقل وبيع النساء أيضا كالمُمتلكات. أجادَ( بوكيريف) رسم تفاصيل فُستان الزفاف ومدّ الظلّ والنور، كما أبدع( بوكيريف) في رسمَ تفاصيل سجادة الصلاة التي يضعها الكاهن على كتفه. لوحة ناضجة ومكتملة والرسالة التي تحاول إيصالها واضحة ومباشرة، الرسام يدعو المتلقي لأن يكون جزءاً من الممثلين وان يشارك في المشهد
