On 16 October, Jimmy Sham, the convener of Hong Kong’s Civil Human Rights Front (CHRF) has been attacked by 4-5 masked men armed with hammers on Arran Lane when he was en route to a CHRF meeting.
Sham was conscious after the assault and he chanted ‘Five demands, not one less’ before being taken away by an ambulance.
CHRF condemns the attack, stating that the incident is intended to invoke fear and intimidation towards pro-democracy activists.
Sham is a candidate of an upcoming election to be held in November.
The CHRF has organized numerous protests including one on June 16 which has nearly 2 million participants.
