Hey look, a new patent. Who wouldn't love their smartphone alerting medical staff to take corresponding actions
"A method is provided for acquiring and transmitting biometric data (e.g., vital signs) of a user, where the data is analyzed to determine whether the user is suffering from a viral infection, such as COVID-19. The method includes using a pulse oximeter to acquire at least pulse and blood oxygen saturation percentage, which is transmitted wirelessly to a smartphone. To ensure that the data is accurate, an accelerometer within the smartphone is used to measure movement of the smartphone and/or the user. Once accurate data is acquired, it is uploaded to the cloud (or host), where the data is used (alone or together with other vital signs) to determine whether the user is suffering from (or likely to suffer from) a viral infection, such as COVID-19. Depending on the specific requirements, the data, changes thereto, and/or the determination can be used to alert medical staff and take corresponding actions."

Luke O’Neill has undoubtedly been one of the most prominent figures in the Irish Corona conversation to date. The entrepreneurial professor features regularly in RTE and Newstalk promoting vaccines and restrictions.
A marmite persona in the current climate who has been quoted in national newspapers, advising Irish families to “stick grandpa by the window and get a good breeze going” for Christmas dinner. He equally promised secondary students that they can attend their debs wearing an unremovable bracelet proving that they have been vaccinated using one of the new coronavirus vaccines.
Despite his omnipresence in the Irish media, he’s been a hard man to pin down when it comes to answering the most burning questions the Irish public have.
He has equally been unavailable for actual scientific debate on any of the topics he freely speaks about to reporters.
So we had to take to the street to try and get answers to your questions...

The new Covid-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna seem to be remarkably good at preventing serious illness. But it’s unclear how well they will curb the spread of coronavirus.
That’s because the Pfizer and Moderna trials tracked only how many vaccinated people became sick with Covid-19. That leaves open the possibility that some vaccinated people get infected without developing symptoms and could then silently transmit the virus – especially if they come in close contact with others or stop wearing masks.
If vaccinated people are silent spreaders of the virus, they may keep it circulating in their communities, putting unvaccinated people at risk.
“A lot of people are thinking that, once they get vaccinated, they’re not going to have to wear masks any more,” says Michal Tal, an immunologist at Stanford University. “It’s really going to be critical for them to know if they have to keep wearing masks, because they could still be contagious.”
