simple political test: if someone likes korra more than ATLA means that they're brainwashed by american propaganda
bourgeois fiction when representing class struggle in the feudalist era:
- well done representation of monarch/nobles exploiting the poor
- well done representation of the poor's situation
- critique of the overall power dynamics in the society, even of the status quo's brutality
- violence for protecting yourself from the exploiters is right
- (mostly) good ending morals where the monarchy is defeated
- rights given by blood are heavily critized
- (if done good) good allegories with today's situation (like in ATLA)
bourgeois fiction when (if) representing class struggle in capitalist society:
- from "let's ignore the poor", to "but the poor enjoy being poor"/fetishization of poorness as a virtue, to outright "poor people deserve their exploitation and being poor"
- "the status quo is ALWAYS right, it's just your silly ideas that are too much extremist"
- "see?!?!??? this strawman that i just created of communism and/or anarchy JUST PROVE IT."
- abhorrent exaltation of the american system as inherently always right (e. g. republiKKK city in the legend of KKKorra)
- problems in the system solved by some reforms that solve the problem just partially, or just forgetting that the problem exists (KKKorra forgetting that non-benders are exploited and poor)
- police being good, if there are any problems then it's just a "few rotten apples"
- total absolution of the status quo's brutality, sometimes even seen as necessary
- violence is not good if done for protecting oneself from the exploiter because "viowence bad :ccc" (and completely ignores the previous point)
