Australia's left-wing Labor government has quoted a Communist spy who took part in Stalin's Great Terror in the 1930s in its case against the White Australia Party's constitutional challenge to its prohibited hate group laws.

Boris Ivanov was an NKVD agent who then worked for the KGB in New York while serving on a United Nations committee which created a treaty the Australian government claims requires it to ban "racist" political parties.

This article by the Institute of Public Affairs, from 2012, explores how hate speech laws have their origin in Soviet Union laws, and Soviet advocacy.

It specifically mentions the ICCPR and CERD treaty, both of which the Commonwealth invoke as justifications for these hate organisation laws, and how the Soviets advocated that ‘freedom of speech and the press should not be used for the purposes of propagating fascism, aggression and for provoking hatred as between nations’.

The article lists out a whole series of quotes and instances from the Soviet Union where they sought to insert clauses that abolished free speech, and largely got what they wanted with both the ICCPR and CERD treaties.

The Australian delegation at the time, even argued ‘people could not be legislated into morality.’

A Machiavellian government would enforce the law impartially.

But the two-tier injustice is so deep in the hearts of system functionaries that they dare not lay a finger on grandma-bashers and teenagers calling for the murder of a politician — as long as they are on the left, of course. I don’t think one should throw it in their face in earnest. It would be like being in a fight to the death and picking up a water gun because one’s enemy is using it.

Of course, you’re right in that we should point out how retarded the concept is and how they only selectively apply it to their political enemies. This is an exercise in pointing out their wickedness, incompetence and hypocrisy.

But nationalists should not whine about how the media demonises us and how that demonisation makes anti-Fascists try to bash us. The journalists are evil for what they have actually done: their slander, their omission, their activism. They are not evil because they are magically responsible for the violence of random anti-Fascists.

The media is only responsible for violence when they are actively and deliberately inciting it with paid provocateurs and providing information that facilitates an attack — like what ASIO and Channel 9 did at Cathedral Ranges.

I don’t think anti-Fascists beat up grandmas because the media told them Pauline Hanson is evil. They lack the instinct that tells normal people to not attack children and the elderly; and the police and magistrates refuse to punish them sufficiently. That’s why it happens.
