"The singing of the Church comes ultimately out of love. It is the utter depth of love that produces the singing. “Cantare amantis est”, says St. Augustine, singing is a lover’s thing. In so saying, we come again to the trinitarian interpretation of Church music. The Holy Spirit is love, and it is he who produces the singing. He is the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit who draws us into love for Christ and so leads to the Father."
-Pope Benedict XVI, The Spirit of the Liturgy

♦️“... and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
Note that a permanent presence is referred to here, because Jesus speaks of establishing the home of the Blessed Trinity in the soul of the one who loves Him and keeps His word. It is a spiritual and intimate coming of the Father and of the Son - and since They are inseparable from the Holy Spirit, of Him, as well. St. Augustine teaches: “He comes with His aid, we with obedience; He comes illuminating us, we contemplating Him; He comes filling us with graces, we receiving them, so that His vision may not be some thing exterior to us, but internal, and the time of His dwelling in us be not transitory, but eternal.”

⚜️"To have a heart is not sentimental! To have a heart is to have fibre, to have mettle, to have soul, to have a love of elevated things, to have a love of the supernatural mission that one has! And if there was someone who had heart, it was St. Joan of Arc. Here is a beautiful fact: her body was completely burned, but her heart, no. It was a way of saying: The voices came from Heaven! It can well be said: I die, but I declare my heart remains on guard; I die, but my heart still proclaims: the voices came from Heaven!"

♦️Intimate presence of God, as Father and as Friend
“In the Christian, indwelling is equivalent to the hypostatic union in the person of Christ, although it is not this, but rather sanctifying grace, which formally constitutes us as adoptive children of God. Sanctifying grace divinizes the soul, by penetrating and formally saturating it. But divine indwelling is like the incarnation of the wholly divine in our souls - of the very being of God just as He is in Himself, one in essence and triune in persons.”

🔔 Here is this week’s study of Dona Lucilia.
“No matter how much a task demanded her attention, Dona Lucilia never allowed herself to become so absorbed in it as to become tense or lose her serenity.”

The fruits of the Ascension benefit us at each moment, just as Jesus’ last blessing to the Apostles on the Mount of Olives extends throughout history to each one of us.
