Forwarded from Polar Flares (Northstar✨ 칠성들 (Ky))
The original rainbow pride flags were made by Gilbert Baker in 1979, in remembrance of the Stonewall Riots against cops who killed a trans woman.
They chose the rainbow because, among other reasons, it's so bright and easy to see that they couldn't be ignored.
Harvey Milk, the influencial civil rights leader who commissioned the flag, was assassinated by cops 5 months after it was first flown, cementing its position as an anti-cop symbol.
We keep forgetting that not everyone thinks of it this way.
Never forget your roots.
When we say "Pride was a riot", this is what we mean. ACAB is queer roots.
Pride is anti-cop.

Remember, O citizen, this date
And explain it to your children
And to your children's children
Tell them
How people in revolt
Set themselves free one day
From the oppressor
And tell them
The thousand and thousand deeds of those brave men
That in the mountains, in the villages and in every place
They blocked the invader's path
Nor forget the dead
Don't forget to tell
What was fascism
And Nazism
And the war remembers
The ruins, the massacres, the hunger and the misery
The crash of bombs and the crying of mothers
Remember Buchenwald
Gas chambers, crematoria
And all this
Explain your children
And to your children's children
Not because hatred and revenge last
But so that they know well what an immense good
Is freedom
And have them learn to love it
And keep it intact
And always defend it.
