💰 A billionaire real estate CEO just compared “tax the rich” slogans to racism.

Steven Roth, head of Vornado Realty Trust, slammed Zohran Mamdani after the mayoral candidate proposed higher taxes on luxury second homes worth over $5 million in New York City.

During an earnings call, Roth argued that phrases like “tax the rich” promote hatred toward wealthy people in the same way racial slurs target minorities. He said billionaires and rich business owners represent the “American dream,” create jobs, donate heavily to charity, and should be “praised and thanked” rather than vilified.

Mamdani’s proposal and a campaign video promoting it, quickly triggered backlash from major business figures and property developers.
