MAY 2025 - market & banks update
It's been a big month for crypto markets, XMR itself has more than doubled recently. Hopefully some of you have benefited, unfortunately it hasn't actually been great news for me because about a month ago my bank finally blocked all outgoing transfers to crypto exchanges (including local and international ones) so I've lost a bit of money slowly selling my XMR supply at lower prices with no way to re-purchase now :')
P2P price changes
For the next few days, I've updated my SELL site (as in you send an offer to sell your XMR to me) to be ABOVE the international mid-market rate calculated by Google. Obviously that means I'd be losing money most of those trades, but at the moment I do wish to buy more than I wish to sell, and there isn't many other options than P2P with trusted sellers due to my bank blocking exchanges.

On the buy side, expect prices to be higher than usual while there's this extreme volatility. It can take days or weeks for me to fill both buy and sell sides of a trade, usually that presents an opportunity to make a bit of money but these past few weeks it's been consistently losing.
Alternatives
I say this a lot: I'm not an exchange company and I'm not running a business, I'm just trying to get the best deal for my own personal trades and sometimes P2P between people I trust can be better for both of us. If you need XMR and find that I'm not willing to accept an offer that's satisfactory to you, there's no hard feelings in looking elsewhere for now.

No exchanges officially support XMR in Australia, but for small amounts and infrequent trades, you may be able to get better rates by using a regular exchange to buy BTC, and then swapping it to XMR using automated systems like swap.hashpower.au (site I built that integrates a third-party exchange provider without ads or tracking)

New buyers & pending message requests
I've stepped back from the messaging apps like Telegram & Signal, mostly because the majority of my requests were scams and spam from people I don't know. I'm still accepting trade requests through the direct site, but I'm sorry if this pullback from messaging apps means I might've missed your DMs. Many people have auto-delete timeframes, so if I missed a message previously try poking me again over the next couple days and I'll try to stay on top of them for a little bit. The best way to contact me in relation to a trade offer is directly in the "trade notes" field on the site.

I'm also generally avoiding adding any new buyers to the private/trusted P2P site because it's been a long time since LocalMonero shut down and it can be difficult to verify previous trading history at this point - so if you're messaging asking to be added as a new buyer and aren't getting a response that's probably why.

May 2025 updates - scroll up to read everything, but here's the main summary: crypto market is all over the place, XMR has more than doubled since the start of the year and almost doubled in the past month alone

- the main update for sellers/XMR holders: I'm accepting XMR sell trades above intl' market price temporarily (which isn't even possible to get in Australia) so if you're a trusted seller and have XMR you want to sell to me, now would be the best time to send an offer.

- for buyers, there are some potential alternatives if P2P prices are too high at the moment - you may be able to get better rates by using a regular exchange to buy BTC, and then swapping it to XMR using automated systems like swap.hashpower.au (site I built that integrates a third-party exchange provider with XMR support, without ads or tracking)

NOV 2025: important update for BSB/acc payments! Many banks have started rolling out a new feature called Confirmation of Payee, which now checks the name entered with a BSB and account number.

Previously, the name was mostly for reference and didn't actually need to match exactly, but now it's important that if you're selling XMR through the trusted sellers site and requesting a standard bank transfer you enter your full name *exactly as it appears on your bank app or statement* to avoid transfers being flagged, delayed or stopped by the banks.

There are no further restrictions on BSB/acc trades, so the same link hashpower.au/direct-sell is still up for previously trusted sellers. I'm just posting this update here as I know some people used to enter initials, nicknames, only first name, preferred name etc. but it's actually checked with the receiving bank now so it needs to match what's in their system.

This update doesn't affect PayID since the name gets filled automatically.
Received this lovely holiday present from my bank. Unfortunately the rumors from bank employees at the start of this year on limiting crypto payments have gone into effect, and they're now limiting payments to high-risk merchants (including of course the international exchanges I need to wire to in order to get XMR, as well as even local exchanges) to $10,000 total across an entire month.

This limit applies not per exchange, or per account I hold, but across all of them for the entire bank. I don't have alternative arrangements with other banks and won't be able to establish any as none of them are accepting customers who have anything to do with "crypto" right now.

This means across all my trades, in an entire month, I can only acquire $10,000 worth of XMR or any other cryptocurrency. Occasionally I could be able to get more through direct trades with trusted sellers, but in the last few months demand has been much higher from buyers than sellers and this trend is likely to continue.
What that effectively means is simple: once I can no longer send to exchanges in a given month, prices I'm willing to accept buy offers for will rise as I'm unable to buy more at lower rates, until the supply runs out completely and I'll have to switch off trade requests from buyers until the end of the month.

As XMR & P2P trading in general has become more restricted, doing this has become a lot more stressful and not very profitable for me. I'm still doing my best to remain available as long as I can for those of you I already trade with through the direct site, but as usual will not be accepting any new buyers or sellers.

ALTERNATIVES
In case you need XMR and are unable to find it from me or anyone else (either at a good price, or even just in general) the only real alternative now is to sign up with a regular crypto exchange that hopefully won't have a KYC data leak, buy a less private coin like BTC or USDC, then do on-chain exchanges through swap.hashpower.au or similar to convert that to XMR
i hope all the banks get coal for christmas. πŸͺ¨

If anyone has XMR and wants to do some xmas/new years shopping, I'm looking to do gift card trades as well as regular bank transfers considering it's becoming harder for me to access through regular exchanges.

I'd just buy them as needed for each trade, so if there's any retailer that issues gift cards (e.g. amazon, apple, jb hi-fi, etc) and you want to purchase something with XMR message me here to let me know!

Will do rates ~1day intl market avg or higher. I haven't added this as an option to the direct site yet since not sure how many people would use it, but please do send me a note through here if you're interested.
Out of XMR, direct buy offers have been temporarily disabled (will update here if/when it changes)

For those with pending trades created very recently (there are a couple) I expect to be able to fulfil these within the next 24-48hrs but cannot accept any additional requests right now.
Sell offers (XMR to AUD bank transfer/PayID/BPAY etc) remain open for now
States update for BUY OFFERS (you have AUD and want XMR)

Trades are being accepted as best as I can, for the last few weeks the maximum offer amount has been limited and exchange rates were worse than I'd like

As of today I've finally got some more XMR and reset the maximum trade amount as well as bring the XMR/AUD rate back down - if you've been waiting while the site was unavailable or exchange rates were too high, availability should hopefully be decent over the next few days.

Offers are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you send a trade offer and the site lets it go through and shows my PayID it's safe to send and expect the coins to land worst case within the next 24hrs.

Not many major updates these days, just wanted to drop a note here cause it's been a while since the last one. Both buy and sell offers are still running at lower volumes with the trusted users on hashpower.au

Avg turnaround is 4-8hrs, fastest trades being under 15min or so during active hours and worst cases finished same-day (12-24hrs)
