This is actually a bit ironic coming from a Canadian nationalist Telegram account. If the loyalists had won The American Revolutionary War of the late 18th century, the American colonies would still have become an independent country, just a bit later on the timeline (like the way Canada did) and the British Empire wouldn't have bothered to colonize Canada and Australia, creating new Anglosphere nations — which isn't the outcome you'd want if you like Anglo Canada or Australia. Also, no manifest destiny: most of the western half of the North American continent (West of the Appalachian Mountains) would probably be speaking Spanish and be more brown/injun. I also believe that we would have still received most of the Ellis Island Whites, they would have just arrived a bit later.

People always compare the USA to Rome, but I think it’s going to be much more like Yugoslavia, at least as far as the political dynamics: balkanization and then war among the nations living under the former USA.

When people compare the USA to Rome, the assumption is that this entire country is about to enter it’s imperial era under a Caesar-esque dictatorship, but there’s nothing culturally or politically facilitating that among the White American population — they are already frustrated with Trumpism. The American nation is culturally Anglo, so any sort of autocratic dictatorship will never be acceptable among a predominantly Northern European American population. But the parts of the USA that are brown, that’s where something like Caesarism could develop after a post-balkanized USA — An independent California would fall under a dictatorship quickly.
