Much as I expected, the next step is to send him back for trial and imprisonment. Heβs 98 years old. They had no problem with him for over three quarters of a century. He literally fought Bolsheviks to push them from his country, but he made the terrible mistake of doing it while with the one group youβre not permitted to do that with, even though they were the only ones willing to help Ukrainians like him against them (where were the Western Allies? Oh, thatβs right, they were on the same side as the Bolsheviks that were hurting his people).

The day after the victory of the Texian Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna is brought before General Sam Houston as a prisoner of war. Santa Anna wears the uniform of a common soldier, having discarded his gaudy accoutrements in flight. Captured Mexican battle standards are leaning against the tree. Santa Anna promised to end hostilities and vouch for Texan sovereignty in the subsequent treaty, but reneged after his release. Less trusting voices in the Texan camp advocated for Anna's hanging as a tyrant and murderer.
