,,So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. "

Psalms 71:18
Forwarded from Scott Leigh
First 5 words are literally 1) “The-LORD יְהוָ֧ה
2) your-God אֱלֹהַ֛יִךְ
3) in-your-midst בְּקִרְבֵּ֖ך
4) is-a strong man, גִּבּ֣וֹר
5) Savior, יוֹשִׁ֑יעַ or Yeshua or Jesus!”

Simply speaking,
The LORD your God is a strong man (warrior) (called) Jesus. ( Saves us on a cross…over death, etc…) Took ‘one of us’ with Him. The thief. Faith gets answered no matter the circumstances!
That’s the gospel of Christ come in the flesh. I needed that!

Thank you Scott. For letting God use you brother. 😇
So that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.

For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.

For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
Evening

"Acquaint now thyself with Him."
Job 22:21

If we would rightly "acquaint ourselves with God, and be at peace," we must know him as he has revealed himself, not only in the unity of his essence and subsistence, but also in the plurality of his persons. God said, "Let us make man in our own image"--let not man be content until he knows something of the "us" from whom his being was derived. Endeavour to know the Father; bury your head in his bosom in deep repentance, and confess that you are not worthy to be called his son; receive the kiss of his love; let the ring which is the token of his eternal faithfulness be on your finger; sit at his table and let your heart make merry in his grace. Then press forward and seek to know much of the Son of God who is the brightness of his Father's glory, and yet in unspeakable condescension of grace became man for our sakes; know him in the singular complexity of his nature: eternal God, and yet suffering, finite man; follow him as he walks the waters with the tread of deity, and as he sits upon the well in the weariness of humanity. Be not satisfied unless you know much of Jesus Christ as your Friend, your Brother, your Husband, your all. Forget not the Holy Spirit; endeavour to obtain a clear view of his nature and character, his attributes, and his works. Behold that Spirit of the Lord, who first of all moved upon chaos, and brought forth order; who now visits the chaos of your soul, and creates the order of holiness. Behold him as the Lord and giver of spiritual life, the Illuminator, the Instructor, the Comforter, and the Sanctifier. Behold him as, like holy unction, he descends upon the head of Jesus, and then afterwards rests upon you who are as the skirts of his garments. Such an intelligent, scriptural, and experimental belief in the Trinity in Unity is yours if you truly know God; and such knowledge brings peace indeed.
If your faith is built on only what you can see right now, or feel, or understand, it won’t get you very far.

We will face things in this life that don’t make sense to us.

Hard times.
Dark places.

But remember, Peter talked about the prophecy of scripture being as a light shining in a dark place. (2 Pet 1:19)

The prophetic word came true in Jesus Christ.

Because Jesus is Who He says He is and did what He said He would do, we can keep trusting Him to keep doing what He says. Our job is to seek to follow Him and keep following Him.

He tells us how in His Word.

Remembering God’s promises, and believing He keeps them when we face things we don’t like or don’t understand, helps us continue to keep going.

But remembering is so much more than an emotion, it is an ACT OF THE WILL.

I may not FEEL God's nearness, but I choose to remember He is always near His children. (Eph 2:13, Ps 139:7-10).

I may not SEE how He can bring good from my hard situation right now, but I choose to remember He can. (Rom 8:28)

I may THINK some things sound good, but when Scripture calls them wrong, I will not compromise truth. (Prov 16:25)

I may not UNDERSTAND why God calls some things sin when the world we live in does not, but I will choose to follow His ways over the world’s ways. (Prov 3:1-7)

When Peter wrote his letter, he knew his time on earth was short.

In his last words, he pleads for Christians to be diligent in growing their faith. He tells them to add to their faith things like: virtue, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. (2 Pet 1:7)

Peter says, “for if you do these things” (an act of the will) ...there is reward (2 Pet 1:10-11).

We may not always like or understand what is going on in our lives, but one day, our faith will become sight! One day our eyes will see Jesus return as conquering King!

In John chapter 6, Jesus had just said some hard things. People didn’t understand. Many were walking away. But look what Peter says—

“After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God”. (John 6: 66-68)

Oh friend, may we be like Peter...to Whom else should we turn? Whom else should we follow? Let’s choose to follow Jesus, as He tells us in His Word, even in our dark days.

Let’s count on Him to keep His promises. He always has. He always will!
