By creating a sub-tropical modern architecture garden home,
Justin Humphrey Architects employs concrete, timber, dark tones and green life to respond to the client's brief. Desiring a family home that was equal parts building and garden, the clients needed a home that could provide privacy and areas for entertaining. Handling the combination of public and private spaces with ease, the architect has also challenged the traditional entrance sequence of the home. From its exterior, Cove House strikes a formidable presence, yet with its singular floating plane roof and plant life, Cove House establishes itself as a modern architecture garden home. Most “Sustainable Masterplans” are just green roofs on top of the same old geometry.
This University Campus in Australia was designed the opposite way.
Landscape first. Circulation second. Buildings last.
Because sustainability isn’t a checklist. It’s a system.
Water, shade, wind, movement, habitat, materials, maintenance. All connected.
What you see here is not a render. It’s a sequence.
The curve is not decoration. It’s circulation logic.
Vegetation is not an add-on. It’s climate control.
Timber screens, stone plinths, deep overhangs, and high-performance glazing. All doing real work.
If your masterplan can’t explain how people move, cool down, gather, and recharge. It’s not sustainable. It’s branding.
Would you rather design a campus that looks “green”, or one that actually behaves green?

Public Space by sibaranisofian

KHOO TECK PUAT HOSPITAL, Ecopuncture Asia

One of eight public hospitals in Singapore, the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital is laid out in a V-shaped configuration of blocks, enclosing a central court. The most visible of its systems are the blue and green landscape elements extending outwards from this court. A network of public pathways and social spaces is overlaid onto this ecosystem. In 2005, in the midst of construction, the hospital team expanded its blue-green footprint by adopting an adjacent stormwater pond. Concrete edges of the waterbody were hacked away, and aquatic plants brought in to clean the water, and create ecological niches. A walking trail was added, linking it to hospital grounds and a nearby public housing estate.
