How to bypass “whitelist” network?

Hello!

I am currently on a school network (I know right, I’m one of those people)

Either way, I cannot seem to figure out how to bypass the numerous restrictions they have in place. I am just trying to access other resources and such that they have blocked.

I have hosted my own website and attempted to connect to it from restricted internet and it refused to connect. I have previously connected to the site on another unblocked device and it was successful.

I have also attempted Shadowsocks on port 443, but it did not connect, not even a attempted handshake on the server end.

HotspotShield (VPN company) works for some reason. They seem to have their own protocol but I cannot find many details on how exactly it works.

https://www.reddit.com/r/k12sysadmin/comments/6lb9yi/blocking_hotspot_shield_vpn/

I have found the above post detailing how a sysadmin was having troubles blocking Hotspot Shield due to fake SNI. That post is old and from 5 years ago, and I am wondering how I would be able to self-host something of similar nature? (Mostly for lower latency)

I was already thinking about DNS Tunneling, but I have been informed it has very slow speed (~1MBPS) and I would expect it to have high latency. (At that point I may stick to Hotspot Shield, however if you have a tutorial on how to set up DNS Tunneling, please send it, as I cannot find one.)

Sorry for the poorly made post.

** Just need a push in the right direction. **

i.e: Where to search for what they are blocking and what obstacles I need to overcome.

Thank you so much in advance!
