is there any way to become a mod of an unmoderated subreddit without using RedditRequest?

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, but the right place for this (r/redditrequest) told me no.

Long Story short the subreddit I want used to be mine, but I lost access to that account a while back, and I know the subreddit doesn't have a moderator because I was the only moderator. Is there any way to get it back? Redditrequest told me no, becuase I don't have the experience or something even though I currently moderate a subreddit with like thousands of users just fine, and the old one that I want back has like 9, and no one is using it anyway. I just want my stuff back.

Are ctfs useful?

I was watching a video by Katie Paxton about the best way to learn and she says that ctfs aren't realistic enough to teach people about real world security issues and that the best way to learn is through bug bounty. Is this true? I figured there would at least by some value in doing ctfs. Has anyone learned from ctfs and do you think beginners should try bug bounty?
