hacking: security in practice
Unlocking my car when it recognises me

Hello there, I'm new new hacking but I'm good with programming. there is an idea I had for a while for a security class project and I want to know if it's realistically achievable in any way.

Basically I want my car when it recognised me through a camera ( mounted in my garage ) coming to open the door it should unlock itself. And when I walk away it should lock again. This idea can be built upon to create different profiles for my family as well.

I always heard about copying a key fob signal and trigger it somehow but I honestly don't know. Can someone guide me on how to achieve this?
