Hey everyone, back with another interesting blog. In this blog I’ll tell you how I hacked into my neighbor’s WiFi. So let’s get started.

Wardialing and scanning - what was the "standard" back then?

Hello!

I'm a bit too young to have experienced the old wardialing stuff. I'm doing some research for a project and if anyone could clear up some doubts on it, I'd be grateful!

*
Was there anything intermediate between NCP before TCP/IP was published? I assume all dial up direct connection over PSTN used NCP, am I correct in doing so? If not, what piece of information am I missing or assuming wrong?

*
How did a protocol such as FTP work over NCP? Was there a concept like todays' ports or was it "simply" some kind of half-duplex between the server and the client?

*
How did mainframes support multiple, simultaneous connections? Was it like 1 line/number per each user? So if I wanted to let 10 people from the internet connect to, say, my BBS, I'd have to have 10 different lines connected to my pc? (I assume a demuxer is probably somewhere in this picture but I can't figure out the specifics?)

*
Would a computer connected via PSTN/NCP be able to offer more services? (e.g. telenet and ftp?) If so how, since NCP doesn't seem to support ports? My understanding is that was not possible. If my assumption above is correct, lets say I wardialed a specific number. I'd probably get some header bytes that I'd have to check with a known list of services in order to understand if what I'm looking at is a specific service or was there a better way?
I've read "The Cuckoo's Egg" by Clifford Stoll - amazing read - but I can't find answers to these questions specifically even by context, and I'd rather ask first before diving into reading 50 years old RFCs, as maybe someone here can point me to some resources that can speed up my learning on these matters.

Thanks!

BeEF alternatives for Windows?

Looking for an alternative to BeEF to mess with my family, not do anything excessively bad, let alone illegal. Anyway, I’m looking for a software where I can do the things BeEF can do by clicking on a generated link, except it can be downloaded on Windows. Thanks a bunch!

Edit: I should’ve probably clarified lmao 😂, it would be along the lines of me messing with my older brother by making random stuff happen, with like colors on the website change, text be weird, random images pop up, not anything to do with information or anything.

iOS iMessage payload

Back in 2016, 2022, etc there were specific messages or files you could send via iMessage that would crash iPhones. Curious as to how those are built or found out.

Anyone have any experience?
