Query regarding MagSpoof

MagSpoof is a popular tool made by security researcher Samy Kamkar(https://samy.pl/magspoof/). The tool uses a micro controller controlled electromagnet to simulate a card swipe if the pattern of the magnetic lines is given. My question is why is an electromagnet required. If the data can be read from a mag swipe, there is also a write option to put the data in an empty card, why not just do that like in David bombal’s video of carding?

Ever wonder what makes Israel so good at hacking? How does a small country like Israel consistently produce some of the world’s best hackers and cybersecurity practitioners? What does it take to make it to elite military cyber units like Unit 8200 and Unit 81? The secret is people, not technology. Israel’s cyber success lies in its human capital development system. Everything from assessing and selecting top talent, retaining them, and concentrating everything in one geographic area. Watch now to see how it’s done! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IluKcbamqfk submitted by /u/itilogy (https://www.reddit.com/user/itilogy)

How is software cracked?

I’m not asking how to do it. I’d just like to know what the process looks like.

Red Rose Programme

Just finished a programme on bbc iplayer called red rose, about an app that can track all phone usage, cctv cameras and was used by people on the dark web to scare, monitor and even kill people. It got me thinking has anything like this been done before?
