What stops something like Pegasus becoming openly available?

My understanding is that if someone has access to the software it would take someone who has access to go rogue and figure out the code behind it then upload it online. I'm obviously naive to this area as it can't be that simple.

Is it possible to view the source code of a programme you have and strip it's authentication tools then upload it online? Sort of like a torrent I guess.

Or even create an open source version that's freely (but highly illegally) available allowing anyone to use the highly malicious spyware.

Can my MacBook password be found easily ?

Hi,

I recently got my MacBook stolen. I used to store all of my passwords in iCloud, and I know that this password library is accessible offline (at the version it was when it was last connected to internet) just by knowing the user's password, through Safari preferences.

Therefore, is it easy for someone to bypass or find a MacBook password, and have access to the library I talked about ?
