Cold storage solution

Hello everyone, I’m not a hacker or anything like that just a freak. I’ve been struggling with some info i have to keep secure and I wanted to ask this sub if my idea is fine or is just a silly thing. I saw the other day some usb with fingerprint. The usb has 2 partitions, the first one a normal one with no security and the other one only appears if you validate your fingerprint. I thought of installing Tails (or really just any bootable linux) in the open one for being able to boot from pc and then open the second one and get acces to the files as a normal usb connected to the computer. If Tails is not connected to the internet and without persistent storage it would be considered a cold storage? Wich are the risks of loosing the files or someone to take them? Thanks for your attention and sorry for my English, not native language.
