Router pwn via LAN vs outside of network

For a hacker to pwn a router within a LAN, they could read the source code and find exploits manually or use Metasploit to aid the process of gaining administration privileges. Through my research, there is plenty of public resources to demonstrate and teach ways of going about this. As for accessing a router not via LAN, however, I am here to ask broadly different methods of doing so. From my understanding, you could get a device on the target network to open a remote shell to access a network. You could also investigate open ports (followed by further steps). Along with asking about different methods, I am also here to ask if anyone can redirect my attention to a bigger picture that I believe I am missing here (any advice on what I should research particularly, given my current understanding ^ ?)

Any way to deactivate touch screen using a usb ?

I have a ghost touch issue where my pc keeps clicking on a particular spot. I can’t access the settings to disable the touch screen because it keeps clicking on other options. I’m wondering if it’s possible to create a program that deactivates the touch screen when the usb is plugged in. Any thoughts ?
