VPN Detection Methods

I am currently overseas at the moment during playoffs at home. I didn't think it would be an issue, as I have an online streaming subscription and usually watch it this way anyway.

Start the app and... 'Overseas visitors are blocked' - Fuck you!

No worries, I have a box in a little data centre that shouldn't be on any blacklists. I spin up a nice little PiHole+WireGuard instance and try again...

Start the app and... 'VPN Detected - You are blocked' - Double fuck you!

Alright - Time to roll my sleeves up... I have a media box at home, I can wrangle an OpenVPN server on to it and try again. I know streaming works from my home IP!

Start the app and... 'VPN Detected - You are blocked' - What the actual fuck! I hate you!

This is now personal. I am overseas, with a service I am paying a lot of money for, which I can't access during the greatest time of the year. So, I am here to ask:

1.
How are they detecting I am using a VPN from my own home IP address?

2.
How can I get around this, so I can just watch my game!
Is it some sort of DNS leak? Are they tracking TTL hops, MTU size, response time?

Is there any way to execute code on a DVD player

I was thinking like having a micro loader whenever you turn the DVD player or and a selection screen to play a movie or emulate an new or something. Maybe I'm just wishfully thinking and this will never work, but my friends portable DVD player can emulate nes perfectly so why can't a standard one do that or maybe even more

Hackers / devs in the Dominican Republic?

The PRuF dev team is currently based in the DR. We are hard at work on pruf.io and are looking for local devs that would like to learn about smart contract testing, attack surfaces, etc as part of an internal testing/attack team we are forming to augment our internal pre-audit testing.

If this sounds interesting or you just want to chat, reply here.
