Noob questions
https://www.reddit.com/r/Pentesting/comments/1dnyja9/noob_questions/
<!-- SC_OFF -->So im relatively new to this, but have some experience playing around with Kali Linux a while back. Currently have Kali installed on my machine as a partition. I’m doing hackthebox stuff and currently working through starting point. I’m wondering how you know what tools to use. For example, reading through the walkthrough on the responder module, its like “we will use responder for this”. How does one just know to use this tool. I mean other things are pretty obvious, hash cracking uses john, nmap for scanning…. But i just dont understand how one should know when to use a specific tool. Am I doing the right thing with hackthebox? It seems very beginner friendly, but im not sure if im learning or just reading walkthroughs. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/Legal-Yam-235 (https://www.reddit.com/user/Legal-Yam-235)
