🇺🇸US
Сильный акцент на экзаменах: mid-program exams / qualifying exams, защита research proposal. После этого - долгий research phase

🇪🇺Europe
Меньше экзаменов, чем в США. В некоторых странах есть регулярные progress reports, но нет системы «qualifying exams» как в США

Research proposal (исследовательское предложение)

🇬🇧UK
Очень важен на старте - нужно чётко показать тему и план исследования уже при подаче

🇺🇸US
Первоначально менее строгий: ты можешь войти в программу без точной темы и выбрать направление позже

🇪🇺Europe
Зависит от системы:в structured PhD программах proposal важен заранее
в проектных PhD - тема уже может быть задана университетом/грантом

If you are searching for how to achieve Band 7 in IELTS Writing Task 2, the answer is that it usually does not rely on using advanced vocabulary. Improvement was achieved by treating Task 2 as a checklist rather than an attempt to produce something impressive. Here is a resource that would have been beneficial earlier.

First, understand what Band 7 actually requires:

* Task Response: Answer the question fully and maintain a clear position.
* Coherence and Cohesion: Ensure logical paragraphs that are easy to follow, not messy.
* Lexical Resource: Maintain a sufficient range, but natural word choice matters more than "fancy" vocabulary.
* Grammar: Utilize a mix of sentence types with decent accuracy.

The factors that previously limited performance to Band 6/6.5 were simple: half-answering the question, vague examples, and forced vocabulary that sounded unnatural.

The structure that provided the most assistance

For most opinion/discussion essays, a four-paragraph structure was utilized:
1. Introduction
2. Body 1
3. Body 2
4. Conclusion

This is basic, but effective.

Introduction Formula:
1. Paraphrase the question.
2. State the opinion clearly.
3. Mention the two main ideas to be discussed.

Body Paragraph Formula:
1. Topic sentence.
2. Explain the idea.
3. Provide a specific example.
4. Link back to the question.

If a paragraph misses one of these steps, it often feels underdeveloped.

Personal Task 2 Checklist before completion:

* Did I answer every part of the question?
* Is my opinion clear from the introduction?
* Does each body paragraph contain only one main idea?
* Did I include a real example, not a generic sentence?
* Did I avoid adding a new idea in the conclusion?
* Did I use linking words naturally instead of in every sentence?
* Did I leave 3-4 minutes to check for grammar mistakes?

Biggest Mistake: Overcomplicating Vocabulary

It is genuinely believed that this is why so many people remain below Band 7. You do not need to sound academic at all times. Clear English is superior.

* Poor: "This phenomenon has myriad detrimental ramifications upon society."
* Better: "This trend can cause several problems for society."

The second example is simpler, but it is clear and accurate, which matters significantly.

Practice Methodology Instead of Random Essays:

* Picked one common question type each week: opinion, discussion, advantages/disadvantages, problem-solution.
* Wrote only introductions for 5-6 questions in one session.
* Practiced body paragraphs separately, not always full essays.
* Collected useful phrases for giving opinions and examples.
* Rewrote old essays after feedback.

This saved time because writing full essays every day is exhausting and honestly not always efficient.

Safe and Useful Phrases:

* It is often argued that...
* I believe that...
* The main reason is that...
* For example, ...
* As a result, ...
* In conclusion, ...

Nothing special, but these are reliable. Band 7 writing is usually clear and controlled, not dramatic.

Timing Strategy:

* 5 minutes planning
* 30 minutes writing
* 5 minutes checking

Planning made a bigger difference than expected. When planning was skipped, essays always became repetitive.

Final Conclusion

If you want to know how to get Band 7 in IELTS Writing Task 2, focus on clear structure, fully answering the question, and minimizing mistakes instead of trying to sound "smart." A clean, easy-to-follow essay beats a confusing "advanced" one.

If anyone wishes, the exact paragraph template used for opinion essays can be provided.
