Junius Ho’s unfair privilege angers the public 1/3

HA Secrets
(7 Nov) #9358

My mother is the sixth in line for emergency surgery today. But the surgery was rescheduled to another day because of Junius Ho Kwan Yiu. She has already stopped eating for a few days to prepare for the surgery, and cannot eat any more. The surgery has been rescheduled to next week. My mother’s tumor is all over half of her brain. Her case has been on the emergency list since Monday and she still can’t have surgery today! What is the point to be on the emergency list but not able to have surgery until now? Why someone with a 2cm-long injury on his chest can jump the queue? I am super angry.
Can the Hospital Authority explain why Junius Ho has the privilege to jump the queue?

Admin: can contact “patient contact officer" (https://bit.ly/2pGXeXw)

Junius Ho’s unfair privilege angers the public 2/3

The following is published on the Facebook page "HA Secrets" where medical staff under Hong Kong's Hospital Authority send in information anonymously.

(06 Nov) Case #9357

HO X X (HO Kwan Yiu) had received a general anesthesia surgery for his 2cm wound. It was handled by a Chief of Service (of the Hospital Authority). Other surgeries including brain tumor, tracheostomy and thoracoscopy were given way, a privilege!?

Case #9358
Want to check out – why legislator HO was given a Resuscitation Room ebed, on cardiac monitoring and was escorted to the ward?

Can the resources be better utilized without such wastage?

How to deal with if there were other real cases of post cardiac arrest patient being admitted to the hospital? (though there are few ebeds for Automated External Defibrillation, in most circumstances there should be more than 1 patients received in a single Automated External Defibrillation ebed)

It is doubted that the services of ebed, cardiac monitoring and escorting (to ward) should be offered to such 2cm wound injury case as it was not necessary.

It is strongly questioned that the hospital did not treat other patients admitted to the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) fairly and professionally.

Please explain why the patient (HO Kwan Yiu) became a VIP with such privilege.

Case #9359
Please follow up, in a serious manner, why the patient (HO Kwan Yiu) who was minor wounded could cut in the line to receive treatment in the operating theatre. Which emergency category was classified upon the triage system assessment at the Tuen Mun Hospital A&E where it (he) was admitted to? How long has he waited for a doctor’s consultation?

Case #9360
I am a staff member of the Tune Mun Hospital. Today (6 Nov) a surgery was conducted for a “VIP” who was injured with a 2/3cm wound. Putting aside if he was actually attacked (some suspected this is a coordinated show), I was so surprised that he could cut in the line (for receiving treatment and surgery) considering his small wound without further bleeding and life threatening. What I want to stress is, despite the Tuen Mun hospital is heavily overloaded and overflowed, this unwelcoming patient without any emergent condition could be offered a single room. There were over 20 emergent cases pending for surgery in the operating theatre, including neurosurgery, fracture, carpal tunnel syndrome which are all more serious cases than Ho’s, in which 10 cases were already pending since the previous night. It was totally unreasonable to let him cutting in, and treat such other 20+ patients unfairly. Because of his capacity as lawyer or legislator and so he could enjoy the privilege?

We are often discredited as dirty nurses recently and instructed not to bring politics into the hospital, however, was the senior management leading to bring in politics in this case?

(Admin: how about we group all the comments into one case as all are alleging the same incident?)
(Privilege? VIP? We are not sure, but we do see the senior management of the Hospital Authority is avoiding responsibility and accountability.)

Junius Ho’s unfair privilege angers the public 3/3

Editor's Note: Writer Alfred Wong is an Associate Consultant working in Tuen Mun Hospital

(08 Nov) Since when was photography allowed in a hospital room? (Hong Kong Hospital Authority prohibits taking photos in the hospital room area to protect patients privacy)

Since when was it approve for a patient to have 8 visitors visiting at the same time? (Hospital rooms are narrow and small. As to avoid obstruction of clinical work, hospital rooms only allow 2 people to visit a patient each time. The only exception might be if the patient is in a critical condition.

“Where is the rule now? It looks like "Eight Immortals Bestowing Longevity”

I really cannot understand. I really want to ask the question.

I have seen so many cases that the 3rd family member were forced to stay out of the hospital room.

Should the Hospital Authority apologize to other patient's family member who were forced away?

I have not yet count Ho's skipping line for hospital care.

More than 20 Diplomats in Beijing Calling China to Release the 2 Arrested Canadians;
China Criticizes Canada for “Gathering Nations and Confusing Right and Wrong”.

Canadian merchant Michael Spavor was being convicted of espionage by a Chinese court and sentenced to 11-year imprisonment. Canadian Foreign Minister Marc Garneau criticized the trial process as a sham trial, being unfair and Opaque.

Diplomats from more than 20 countries, including the United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and the EU, gathered at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing to show their supports. They urged to have a fair trial or a release of Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized Canada for “gathering individual countries, disregarding the facts and confusing the right and wrong”.

Canadian Foreign Minister Marc Garneau stated in the live broadcast at CTV Television Network on August 11 that the sentence is a lack of fairness and transparency. He also indicated that “We are known that arbitrary detention of China and a sham trial with a lack of transparency and with an unreasonable judgement do not match the International Law”. He continued that the Canadian government was negotiating with Senior officials from China and the US, finding the solution to release both. However, Marc did not reveal any details.
