BREAKING October 16 HKT04:39 THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES has just passed the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act of 2019 via voice vote. The act will be sent to the United States Senate for further approval.
U.S. House of Representatives Unanimously Passes Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, the Protect Hong Kong Act, and the 'Stand with Hong Kong' Resolution

Reuters, October 16 (HKT)
//... members of Congress - Democrats and Republicans - said they wanted to take an aggressive stance on China and show support for Hong Kong following four months of unrest in the city

1. The Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, would require the U.S. secretary of state to certify every year that Hong Kong was retaining its autonomy in order to keep receiving the special treatment that has allowed it to be a major financial center.

2. The Protect Hong Kong Act, would bar commercial exports of military and crowd control items that Hong Kong policy could use against demonstrators.

3. The third measure passed by the House is a non-binding resolution recognizing Hong Kong's relationship to the United States, condemning Beijing's "interference" in its affairs, and supporting the right of the city's residents to protest.//

Chinese Fans Cheered at Exhibition Game, while Tencent Resumed Broadcasting NBA in China

October 12
Despite China's NBA boycott after Morey's support for Hong Kong, Chinese basketball fans showed up at a NBA exhibition game in China:

//Thousands of Chinese basketball fans cheered on the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets at an NBA exhibition game in the city of Shenzhen//

October 14
Tencent seemingly halted the boycott as well:

//Tencent, the NBA primary media partner in China, resumed livestreaming preseason games on its sports website on Oct 14 ending a five-day-long suspension and boycott.

It is believed the company cannot give up on the business interests associated with its $1.5 billion NBA deal.

Many Chinese netizens lashed out at Tencent's Weibo, spamming all posts from Tencent Sports’ official account during the height of the incident with criticism that the company was not being patriotic enough. One user quoted the Mao's speech ‘There are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests’ as a sarcasm to Tencent.//

Questions Remained over Deceased Girl: Extra Footages Did Not Answer the Queries

On October 15, students rallied in HKDI demanding complete and unedited CCTV footages of the deceased 15-year-old Chan.

Students criticized the Institute for releasing fragmented footages, which aroused public suspicions over the Institute's credibility. "Release the footage, reveal the truth," the crowds cried. All classes in the Institute are suspended for 3 days.

HKDI then released 2 extra footages, including an extended version of the fragmented one w
that was released earlier.

According to the new footage, after the girl had entered the lift, a white-clad man entered on another floor. The girl left the lift alone at 17:51:27, with a few railings placed outside. The man left 20 seconds later on another floor with no railings.

In the other footage without any timestamps, the girl walked pass the car park, but it was unclear whether she was barefoot.
