Police shot tear gas on MTR station; passers-by screamed

In the Mong Kok Police Station, a police officer told the crowds, “You don’t need to stay here,” “you can walk with your friends towards Portland Street.” She warned of the use of rubber bullets and bean bag rounds, if the crowds stayed. The officer emphasized that they could see everything the protesters were doing and asked protesters in black to stop picking up bricks, adding that they will be spared if they stopped. After the announcements, at least three rounds of tear gas were deployed.

At least 10 tear gas canisters were fired by police deployed on top of a Prince Edward Station exit (Exit A) at protesters on Boundary Street.

At that time, there were mamy citizens on Nathan Road nearby. A middle-aged woman was frightened by the sound of gunshots and hysterically screamed and cried, “I just want to go home!” She begged reporters to help her go home.
