China puts tariffs of up to 200 per cent on Australian wine
The Chinese Government has announced it will place tariff on all Australian wine imports from November 28 (Saturday). The new tariffs range from 107 to 200 per cent. The investigation is not due to finish until next year, but China’s Commerce Ministry announced that importers of Australian wine entering China will need to pau temporary “anti-dumping security deposits”.
Shadow Trade Minister Madeleine King said she was “deeply concerned“ about the tariffs. “It is a relationship that must be managed in the national interest and not for partisan political interests.
The action follows months of trade uncertainty and souring relations between Australia and China.

Government ready for 100 per cent increase in Hong Kong citizens coming to UK
The Foreign Office estimated that 200,000 would move from Hong Kong to the UK but the leaked internal briefing paper warned of a “rapid rise in the issue of BN(O) passport since June”.
The home office predicts the number of BN(O) passport is likely to rise to 733,000 by the end of 2020 from 349,881 in February. This would amount to a rise 110 per cent.
The Prime Minister said in July that Hong Kong’s freedoms were being violated by a new security law and those affected would be offered the chance to settle in the UK and ultimately apply for citizenship.
Under the Government’s plans, all BN(O)’s and their dependents can come to the UK for five year including the right to work and study. They will be able to apply for settled status, ad after a further year, seek citizenship.
