Citizens Gathered in remembrance of Chan Yin-lam and Vowed to Continue Fighting
for Freedom

20:43 | Kwun Tong
It has been beyond anyone's understanding that a peaceful memorial service could attract such a large number of police, forcing into the gathering and provoking civilians on site.

Accompanying hymn and solemn prayers were yelling and clamoring from the police. Who keeps us away from forgetting, and who teaches us not to forget?

Civilians on the scene vowed to carry on fighting for democracy for Chan Yin-lam and all other deceased protesters.

83-year-old Li Yi: I don’t have long to live, but I believe Hong Kong young people have wisdom beyond imagination 4/6

The outbreak of anti-extradition bill changes the perception towards young people

Li Yi cares most about freedom and individuality. He parted ways with the left-wing, the country and socialism. He came over to support the local and young people who were not popular with the mainstream. In the past 80 years, he has seen too many terrible things, he has seen too many political clutches and persecutions. He doesn't care about others' praise and deprecation. I don't know how tough his heart is in his wrinkled body. If we are Skywalker, Li Yi will be Master Yoda, who is nearly 900 years old.

After the mysterious death of the 15-year-old Chan Yin-lam last October, there have been sayings that the CCTV foootages shown to the public were re-enacted by an actress who looked like Chan.

Just as TVB, a pro-Beijing channel, had an exclusive interview with Chan's mother who insisted her daughter had killed herself when naked, her distant speech also caused audience to doubt if she is the real mother.

Altar for the Deceased in Pro-democracy Movement Demolished During Construction Work

Chow Tsz-lok, a 22-year-old university student, and Chan Yin-lam, a 15-year-old Hong Kong Design Institute student, passed away last year, both suspected to be victims of police violence.

An altar has been set up by citizens near Sheung Tak Estate carpark, but it was destroyed and demolished multiple times. The altar on the ground floor was blocked by partitions, whereas the one on the second floor, where Chow fell, was covered with white cloth. Workers covered the wall paintings with paint.

Link Asset Management Limited, who managed the carpark, emphasised that a renovation project was planned earlier last year, long before the anti-ELAB movement and the incident of Chow, thus this was not related to the government’s demolition of the altars.
