Hong Kong Government Appoints Defeated Pro-Beijing Candidates and Figures to Public Offices
On 31 March, the government appointed 8 new members to the Youth Development Commission, a body that advises the government on the implementation of youth-related policies.
The 8 new members include 5 defeated candidates from last year's District Council election, who all belong to the pro-Beijing camp.
The remaining two new members also have a strong pro-Beijing background and relations: Kenneth Fok, son of pro-Establishment entrepreneur Timothy Fok, is a National Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; while Clarence Leung is the son of Andrew Leung, current chairman of the Legislative Council who is also a pro-Beijing politians.
