-All the hospitals in Wuhan are battling with the government

Wuhan hospital nurse claims medics are denied testing for the virus

Twitter post by Jennifer Zeng

“Following is a letter from a nurse at Wuhan Union Hospital to a former schoolmate in the US. (The old schoolmate is my friend, I know her. )”

‘Some in our ward have already been infected and quarantined at home. I was selected by lottery to back them up. Alas, I really am risking my life at work. The hospital now forbids resignation and withdrawal from Wuhan - we are virtually under house arrest. Many infected medics have been denied testing for diagnosis, which means they can only be classified as suspected cases. Because once a case is confirmed, the patient will receive free treatment, which must be reported to state authorities. So far, there is no effective treatment. One can only rely on her own immunity to fight it, the rest is in god’s hands. The virus is spreading all over the country now. Huangshi (Wuhan area) has also recorded suspected cases. My husband sent our kids and my parents back home, but he is staying behind with me in Wuhan. I go to work everyday. With just one notification, I could be held in quarantine in the hospital and not be allowed to go home. Now my blood runs cold. This society doesn’t treat us as humans at all.’
