Teachersâ Union Accuse CY Leung of Constantly Harassing the Education Sector, Recommend the Public to Ignore His Request
On October 1, a secondary school student was shot in the left side of his chest by a policeman with a live round, and was subsequently pressed with charges for rioting and assaulting police officers.
CY Leung, ex-Chief Executive and vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, sent a letter to Mr. Tse Yun Ming, principal of Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial College, demanding the principal to expel the wounded student, to make an example of him. In response, the Hong Kong Professional Teachersâ Union (HKPTU) has released a statement condemning CY Leung for constantly harassing the education sector.
According to the statement, CY Leung disregards the normal operations of the college and brazenly imposes his own political stance upon the school. While the student is still in critical condition, CY Leung is trying to put unneeded political pressures on the principalâs shoulders. It asserts that CY Leung is being unreasonable and is blatantly disrespecting our educators.
As HKPTU reports, many principals and teachers from other schools have expressed to the Union that they strongly protest against and condemn CY Leungâs actions. The Union is against any external pressures on the education sector and urges all professionals to ignore CY Leungâs unreasonable requests. The Union also affirms that educators must safeguard their professionalism and conscience, and hold their position dutifully.

How do People in China React to the Landslide Victory of the Pro-democracy Front in Hong Kong District Council Election?
Part 2/5: Hong Kong and Taiwan
Chinese Netizen #9:
âThe propaganda bureau reports only the good news and not the bad news, I suggest dismissing the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government â the office has utterly failed in connecting Mainland China with Hong Kong!â
Replies to Netizen #9:
âI feel utterly hopeless towards the propaganda organization in China. They failed to completely brainwash citizens in mainland China even under the premise of a firewall (this is merely an analogy, all publicity in the world is a type of #brainwash). And yet you still expect them to go out and play with others? What I am afraid of is that all organizations are as useless as the propaganda organization. This possibility is not to be ruled out.â
Chinese Netizen #10:
âThe united front work going on for the past years have been a horrible mess; there are only two placesâ Hong Kong and Taiwan, but yet not one has been made definite. The more united front work done, the more independence-seekingâ with such low work efficiency I really wonder if it can meet its annual KPIs? Are they counting on bullshit for their annual performance review?â
Chinese Netizen #11:
âI used to think that Hong Kong is very awesome, it is the pearl of the orient. Now, [Hong Kong] has turned out to be like the Taiwanese peasants from across. It has become the pig of the orient.â
Replies to Netizen #11:
âHa ha ha, this is on point!â
âAgree, the web is all about anti-extradition to China, they are all suppressing China. Aw, our brother China is very pathetic.â
Netizen #12:
âObjectively speaking, this time the central government is extremely humiliated, the rhetoric had all along been that rioters are the âminorityâ of the Hong Kong population. This time, the fact is that the pro-establishment camp has been scourged, what they called âminorityâ is, in fact, the real mainstream political will. If China still does not try to be open-minded and to really understand the ideas of âOne Country Two Systemsâ and âHong Kong people administering Hong Kongâ, the "grenade" of Hong Kong would cause the central government misery for a long time.â
Replies to Netizen #12:
âYou are wrong, the central government knew this very early on, but they just donât want to crush Hong Kong people and the remaining patriots."
âAs I have said all along, the silent majority in Hong Kong is the âyellow ribbonsâ, not those who dare not speak up. The ability to be chaotic for so long certainly shows the mainstream political will, otherwise, it would have been crushed very early on.â

How do People in China React to the Landslide Victory of the Pro-democracy Front in Hong Kong District Council Election?
Part 4/5: Chinese Netizens Find Pro-democracy Voices "Hopeless"
Chinese Netizen #18:
âHong Kongâs situation is different from what most people imagine. What the mainland Chinese see is actually a âTruman showââŚâ
Chinese Netizen #19:
â#HongKong #ICalledIt
I had always thought that the majority of Hong Kong people bears no sentiment towards Mainland China
I think that Chinese media only allow the public to see what they want the public to see
Chinese Netizen #20:
âWith such an election outcome in Hong Kong, if you want to criticize you should criticize the country-loving âBig Vsâ Hong Kongers of Weibo (verified and popular #Weibo accounts) who have been brainwashing netizens ceaselessly; why would you criticize the central government? Hong Kong will always be the Hong Kong of the new China, it is only following the popular will and returning to its status as a fishing village. Way to go for the few millions of country-loving Hong Kongers! You are filled with courage!â
Chinese Netizen #21:
âLiberate Hong Kong, the revolution of our times?
This [electionâs] choice could directly liberate Hong Kong to the status of a fishing village.
I am so distressed and disgusted, the pearl of the orient is getting further awayâ
Chinese Netizen #22:
"There is a sharp contrast between the expected and actual results of the Hong Kong District Council election. This represents the Hong Kong peopleâs popular will. So what caused us to be unable to see the truth before? What are the people who tried to hide the truth on Weibo and in public rhetoric? Hong Kongâs law courts and schools have issues⌠and our public rhetoric does not?â
Chinese Netizen #23:
âHong Kong is hopelessâ
Chinese Netizen #24:
âHong Kong [has] 80% of yellow [ribbons] â isnât this something everyone knows deep down? Is everyone still astonished by how the pro-establishment camp suffers a huge defeat? The difference between the pro-establishment and the pro-democracy is in the speed by which Hong Kong degeneratesâ the former being slower, while the latter faster. By the way, congratulations, in my life I could still witness the second return of Hong Kong (though I was too young during the first return and had no recollection) Lastly, I suggested that the Liaison Office of the Centralâs People Government and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council seek for redemption by dying.â
Chinese Netizen #25
âHong Kongâs voter turnout of 70%, huge victory by the pro-democracy camp, the popular will has revealed the urgent need to cut and seize Hong Kongâs functions and roles. No matter it is cooperation with Shanghai, Shenzhen, Macau, or Singapore, please urgently transfer (the cooperation opportunities) to protect Mainland Chinaâs interests. Stop trying to shed blood and make concessions. Power and obligations are equal, Hong Kong did not pay even a cent of tax to the central government, hence the central government should never provide money to save Hong Kongâ
