Joe Biden questions whether China is sincere for investigating the source of Wuhan Pneumonia, saying that he and Xi know each other but are not “old friends”

USA President Joe Biden questions whether China is sincere for investigating the source of Wuhan Pneumonia (COVID-19). He shows that although he and President Xi know each other but they are not “old friends”.

Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia attended the press conference after the Summit. He was asked if he contacts Xi Jinping, the president of The People's Republic of China, demanding President Xi to allow WHO to send people to China to do the traceable investigations. Biden replies, “everyone should make clear that we know each other but we are not old friends, just for business”.

Biden shows his suspects for the sincerity of China to co-operate with WHO. “China works hard to shape that he is a responsible and very visionary country, and keeps on saying how they helps the world in anti-pandemic and vaccination. There’s something which doesn’t need to explain to the whole world, and the whole world will see what the result is naturally. The question is: Does China need to investigate till coming to the bottom?”

FTSE Russell to remove more China stocks from indexes over U.S. ban

Global index publisher FTSE Russell said it will delete a further 20 Chinese companies from its indexes after user feedback on an updated U.S. executive order that bars U.S. investment in companies with alleged ties to China's military.

U.S. President Joe Biden signed the order on June 3 that bans U.S. entities from investing in dozens of Chinese companies with alleged ties to defence or surveillance technology sectors, replacing an earlier order under Donald Trump.

In a statement on its website, FTSE Russell said the additional Chinese companies will be deleted from its indexes on July 28.

Climate Change Is Not a Reason to Give China a Pass on Human Rights

In a widely-publicized July 8 letter, four dozen American advocacy groups—including the Sunrise Movement and the Union of Concerned Scientists—demanded that President Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats reverse their “antagonistic posture” in favor of a more cooperative relationship with Beijing to “combat the climate crisis.” The signatories also attempted to frame the current administration’s China approach as a surrender to pressure on the right that’s counterproductive to global governance as well as responsible for xenophobia against individuals of East and Southeast Asian descent, and therefore “doing nothing to actually support the wellbeing of everyday people in either China or the United States.”

Nathan Law: I will continue to do what I think [is] good for the city’s freedom

Self-exiled activist #NathanLaw announced that he had been invited by the #US President #JoeBiden to speak at the Summit for Democracy on Human Rights Day. Soon afterwards, Hong Kong’s #SecretaryforSecurity condemned his action, calling it shameful and using ‘#democracy’ as a façade.

In response, Law mocked Tang’s comment on the US Summit for Democracy, saying, “from #China’s standards, it’s already ‘interfering [with] other country’s internal affairs.”

Law stressed that “I am campaigning for a democratic and free Hong Kong. If it’s considered ‘secession’ and ‘subversion’ by #Beijing, it only shows the political #suppression from them.”

He added, “It does not embarrass or stigmatise me. I will continue to do what I think [is] good for the city’s freedom.”

Across 19 countries, more people see the U.S. than China favorably – but more see China’s influence growing

//In 19 countries surveyed by Pew Research Center this spring, people see the United States and President #JoeBiden more favorably than China and its president, Xi Jinping. But when it comes to perceptions of each country’s relative influence in the world, much larger shares in most nations see China’s influence growing than say the same of the U.S.

The five key findings comparing international attitudes toward the two countries are:

1. The U.S. is generally seen more positively than China.

2. Views of Biden remain much more positive than views of #XiJinPing.

3. A median of 66% across 19 countries say China’s influence on the world stage is getting stronger, while just 32% say the same about the U.S.

4. In many countries, younger people tend to feel more positively about China than older people.

5. People on the right of the ideological spectrum are more likely than those on the left to view the U.S. favorably, but there are no strong ideological patterns in views of China.//
