Unreasonably long police cordon line formed to stop public access to a pro-democracy restaurant

On a tranquil street in Mong Kok at Friday night, at least four police vehicles were sighted outside the restaurant, Jie Genge. Police officers set up extended cordon line along the Portland Street which cut off almost half of the street from public access.

Suddenly, the police surrounded journalists and other passersby and start frisking them, ordering them to produce identification documents. “Internet journalist were not appropriate journalists,” as one police officer shouted.

All citizens at the scene were ordered to put their hands up, produce identification document and be taken pictures by the police with their belongings.

“The PolyU Cook” surrounded by at least six officers, was ordered to put his hand continuously for more than 15 minutes. While searching the Cook, the police officer said, “you are in great trouble.”. A passerby intended to walk forward to see if the Cook is okay but was promptly pushed back, to whom the Cook replied “I am fine!”.
