On Taiwan's National Day, netizens called for an activity to 'Cover Hong Kong with the 'Blue Sky, White Sun, and a Wholly Red Earth flag.

'Spread the national flags of Republic of China (Taiwan) all over Hong Kong' activity. They appealed to the people to put up ROC flags and the Independent Taiwan flags at Lennon Walls.

Strings of ROC and Independent Taiwanese flags were put up at Mong Kok East while the floor was plastered with the slogan 'HongKongers Resist!".

Meanwhile at the altar for the victims of 831 Prince Edward attack, flags of the ROC were also spotted. It is believed that there has not been this many ROC flags on public display since the Taiwaness National Day in 1997.

Hong Kong police changed their statement on facebook

In an earlier post (left) released on October 9, one of the hashtags writes #PoliceNeverEnterDeliveryRoom.

One hour later, the hashtag was removed (right).

This happened after the police denial of having entered the delivery room was debunked by witness report.

Protesters Broke the "Penis Bone" of the Police, say China Supporters

//Things that go viral on thr Internet are usually things that people can relate to. A relatable "post" can be from anything that makes you happy all the way to things that irritate you. This picture is very relatable to me, and it has gone viral in Hong Kong.

The picture was posted by some China supporters, claiming that
the “penis bone” of a Hong Kong police officer was "broken" because he was beaten by the protesters. So exactly where is the bone? Even though we aren’t doctors who study human anatomy, I think all men should know the answer since all men grew up with it.

To my knowledge, there is no bone in the penis, only soft tissue. This is a really funny piece of fake news, but I am not sure how many pro-China people are buying it.

In fact, there is more to this story: Most mammals got a piece of bone in their penis, just that the more evolved the species is, the tinier the bone will get. So when it comes to mammals like human, the penis bone doesn’t really exist.

When facing police brutality, protesters have nicknamed the police "dog”. Maybe they are really correct, since dogs have penis bone. I'm just not sure if it is the same like the X-ray picture here.

And if you are really interested in the penis bone, you can read it on Wikipedia. I would suggest the English version, which is probably less biased.

Since ancient times, in Chinese the word dog when it is used to describe people, it imposes a negative meaning saying that people follow their boss’s orders blindly and forget their the dignity and conscience a human being should have. //

The organizer of the Asian Pacific Freestyle Football Championship contacted another Hong Kong representative Lyson Sze, that an anonymous tipoff was made against a post made by Lai on social media network.

It was also suggested to the organizer that Lai should quit the competition or face disqualification. One day after the incident, the planning committee made a statement publicly that they 'Strongly Standby the principle of One China', 'Strongly Defend the Unity of the Homeland', 'Strongly Maintain the Sovereignty and Territory of the Country, Strongly Against any tempted Actions or Speech Related to Separatist Movements.' And the commitee would disqualify any player who makes inappropiate speech related to Hong Kong and Taiwan issues.

Hearthstone caster and well known TCG personality Brian Kibler announced his departure from the Hearthstone Grand Master in protest of Blizzard's harsh treatment on Hong Kong player BlitzChung.

“I won’t pretend to understand either the intricacies of the geopolitical situation in China and Hong Kong or the full extent of Blizzard’s business interests there,” he wrote. “But to me this penalty feels like it is deeply rooted in both. The heavy-handedness of it feels like someone insisted that Blizzard make an example of Blitzchung, not only to discourage others from similar acts in the future but also to appease those upset by the outburst itself.”

Victim of Police Brutality Speaks Up Before CUHK Vice-Chancellor: "Do you know I am not the only one who has been sexually assaulted by the police?"

Part 1

Miss S (sometimes "Student S"), a victim of police brutality, who had previously recounted her traumatic experience, revealed her identity in public on October 10, in the hope of convincing the Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Rocky Tuan.

The following is her speech and questions to the Vice-Chancellor:

"Do you know what your children, what your arrested students want?

Do you know what they need?

Do you know that when we were arrested our phones were taken away and turned off by the police?

They berated us with coarse language. The police herded us up like cattles.

When we were told to get into the dark rooms we had to obey.

When we were told to take off our clothes we had to obey.

Do you know that some of us still have to see the doctor regularly after being beaten with batons by the Special Tactics Squad?

Do you know the frisk rooms in San Uk Ling (Holding Centre) were totally pitch black?

Do you know that I am not the only person who has been sexually assaulted by the police?

Other arrestees, regardless of their gender, were tortured and assaulted sexually and physically in different ways, by more than one police.

Do you know how MTR employees turned a blind eye to us when the police were beating us?

Do you know how we were treated with no dignity and no humanity, but just forced to obey the police during the detention period?

The following is in fact not a question, but a request.

Mr. President, I understand your concern to balance different views between all parties in the university.

Mr. President, I am willing to find my courage to take off my mask now. (The girl took off her mask and revealed her face)

Would you be willing to find your courage to stand alongside and to walk with us the students, to condemn the Police for their brutalities towards arrestees, including CUHK students?"

Victim of Police Brutality Revealed Identity Before CUHK Vice-Chancellor; Tuan Responded with Vague Answers

Part 2

"If the police force has done something unreasonable that would be considered as violence, I will condemn all forms of violence."

The above conditional response was delivered by Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, upon hearing out a student who was victim of police brutality and sexual assault.

As many students were discontent about Tuan's vague answer, Miss S, now with her face and identity revealed, reiterated:

"Our request is very simple. I hope that you, as the President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), can publish a statement to condemn the police force for using excessive violence on your children, the students of CUHK.

I would like to make some final notes.

I am actually very scared, especially when I recall everything at night.

It was 2am when they called my name and cuffed my hand. Then I found myself in the lightless frisk room in San Uk Ling (Holding Center).

I did not know what would happen. I was like a lamb in front of the slaughter. They can verbally and sexually assault you to their heart desire, and you cannot fight back.

**3. US Lawmakers Demand NBA to sever their Chinese tie until boycott ends.

Senators have voiced their concerns over the NBA #backslash, in the past few days (see photo). Today they issued a bipartisan open letter making 4 demands to the league

1. Support the right of expression of all NBA players, staff, partners and
fans no matter the economic consequences

2.Shut down NBA activities in China, including pre-season exhibition games in
China until the boycott ends

3. Re-evaluate having an NBA Academy in Xinjiang, where concentration camps
are held

4. Clarify public commentary on international human rights repression
including in Tibet, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang falls within expected standards
of public behavior and expression.

4. NBA teams preparing for potential salary cap drop due to China situation

The salary cap for this season is already set at $109 million and the league projects the cap to rise to $116 next year. If that $116 million figure were to drop to something between $98.6 and $104.4 million (10-15 percent), it would greatly limit the amount teams would be able to spend. After the 2019 free-agent spending spree, there'd be very few players landing substantial paydays if this becomes a reality. Many teams safely below the tax line would find themselves paying the penalty as soon as 2021, which would be a lot of money coming out of the owner's pockets

Young Girls Fell Victims to Arbitrary Arrests

Apple Daily acquired a video showing how three teenage girls got arrested on Monday evening in Hung Hom. In the video, onlookers said those girls absolutely did nothing illegal and “did not even put on a face mask”. They criticised the police for “arresting the girls for no reasons”.

As shown in the video, the three girls were wearing their casual clothing and with no face masks. They were stopped by several police officers. The police officers requested for reinforcement through walkie talkies. There were people nearby watching the whole time and said the arrested are for no reason. They commented that the girls absolutely have done nothing wrong. Police officers asked for the names of the three arrestees and shouted at the onlooking citizens, told them to “shut up and stay back. Police are carrying out duties”.

New Asia Middle School anti-extradition law concern group told the Apple Daily that one of the girls is a Form 6th student of the school, another girl is a 19-year-old former student and one is a F.6 student from another secondary school. Members of the concern group, quoting one onlooker who was at the scene that the police officers once said, “three people are enough (to charge them illegal assembly), they can all be arrested”.

13-year-old girl arrested and detained in juvenile home for 27 days before being released without charges

Since June, 104 arrestees are between the age of 12 and 15. A 13 year-old girl was detained in a juvenile home for 27 days, as the police applied for a protective order to legally detain her. She was not being charged after the detention.

Lawyers speculate that the police are using the protective order to deter young people from protesting.

Staff from bus company assaulted by the triad; No police came and police hotline did not respond

Last night (09-Oct), all MTR stations closed at 8pm. When the concert of Kay Tse ended at midnight in Hong Kong Coliseum, the audience was leaving with the aid from staff of the New World City Bus. The staff brought a loud speaker with him to play pre-recorded bus service information.

He was later threatened by a group of people claiming to be operators of the white license car because he was obstructing them from doing business. They demanded him to turn off the speaker otherwise they would call triad members and beat him up.

Not long after that, a white BMW stopped nearby and a few gangsters came out and beat the staff. It seemed that there was no police at Hong Kong Coliseum at that moment and the staff failed to call 999 as there was no one answering the call, according to the employee union. In the end, he could only report the violent incident to the Transportation Department.

Apple Removed "HKmap.live" from App Store after being criticized by China state media

Created by some Hongkongers, "HKmap.live" is an app to help with navigation in the city according to the information provided by the Internet and netizens.

Apple previously refused to release the app, but retracted the decision later. Immediately after the launch of the app, China state-owned newspaper People's Daily criticized on Weibo that Apple is "protecting the rioters" by releasing the app.

A few days later, App Store took down the app, under the reason that it could be used for "targeting and ambushing the police" and "threatens public safety".

The app developers responded that Apple's claim is groundless with no evidence. The team also criticized the ambiguity of Apple's reasoning, and pointed out that all information in the app comes from public and open sources, such as news, social media and users' reports. They reiterated they never encourage or support any illegal activity.

The Speech by Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen on
National Day Celebration on October 10: "Nation of Resilience, Forward into the World.

//Another year has quickly passed. The world is still changing fast, and the changes are even more dramatic. The US-China trade dispute continues. And not far from Taiwan, Hong Kong is on the verge of chaos due to the failure of "one country, two systems."

...China is still threatening to impose its "one country, two systems model for Taiwan." Their diplomatic offensives and military coercion pose a serious challenge to regional stability and peace.

...China is encroaching on us through their sharp power, but as a crucial member of the region, we know that Taiwan must fulfill its responsibilities to the international community. We will not act provocatively or rashly; rather, we will work with like-minded countries to ensure that the peaceful and stable cross-strait status quo is not unilaterally altered.

...We must also hold firm our values of freedom and democracy. The Taiwanese people walked the difficult path to democratization together, and though it may sometimes be tumultuous, only democracy can ensure our hard-won freedom and offer the next generation the right to choose their own future.//
