No Gears No Game:
Shipping supplies to HK

We are a group of Hongkongers in the UK. Seeing the increasing police brutality and shortage of protective gears in Hong Kong, we are gathering respirators, filters and goggles to ship back to protesters in need. Since July 31, we have raised about £5000 and successfully delivered five shipments.

Ways to contribute:
1. Directly purchase supplies online and deliver to our London address
2. Contribute funds for our group purchases

If interested, please pm @smokedeggs or @xyzabc852 🙏🏻

The Blame-Game Government and Rule by Police-Mafia: A Menace to Local Economy

At the 4th Citizens’ Press Conference, the speakers made rebuttals against the false accusations in relation to the claim that the protests have led to economic downturn.

At the 4th Citizens’ Press Conference, it was re-emphasised that the true backbone of Hong Kong’s economic prosperity is our legal system, and the rule of law. Sadly, the Government has been eroding what is core to Hong Kong relentlessly and often even blaming the protestors for the consequences. This Press Conference looked to present data and evidence to debunk some of the falsities within the Government’s arguments on the current state of the economy, as well as to reveal their lies about the incidents at the Airport over the past few days.

Our speaker first pointed out that, whilst the Airport Authority had announced the cancellation of all flights on Tuesday night, flight information from individual airlines, the ground handling crew and flight trackers showed that many flights had taken off as scheduled. She suspected that the Authority might have created chaos at the expense of passengers in order to produce blame to pin onto the protests that had taken place.

What happened at the Airport might have driven home to some people the assumption that the ongoing protests have sabotaged both aviation and tourism and thus disrupted the economy. However, the speaker quoted evidence that the current dip in the economy is not a result of the protests but that of the dwindling level of public security and order caused by the collusion of the Police and the mafia. The speaker also noted that the economy has already started to decline before the Anti-Extradition movement in the first quarter of the year, due to the heated Trade War between China and the US. Hong Kong as an export-oriented economy is more tied to the global trajectory than is being framed by the Government. Recession is a global trend; the statistics pieced together by the Government offer a falsified picture to the public by representing the third quarter with figures from the second quarter. The speaker also presented data which indicate that Chief Executive Carrie Lam’s account on the current economy being worse than those during the outbreak of SARS is unfounded.

The speaker concluded that the Government’s narrative on a great economic depression due to the protests is inaccurate and irresponsible. Instead, she stressed that there is no better way to ensure sustainable and long-term economic health than to ensure democracy and the Rule of Law, particularly in a place like Hong Kong where both these features have historically developed symbiotically. She reiterates that Hong Kong is a world-class financial centre due to its safe and efficient business environment, on top of a robust legal and justice system as the basis of a democratic society. It is the relentless attacks by the Police and the Government on Hong Kong’s quintessential advantages, namely our civil freedoms and the rule of law, that is the black hand to ultimately betray our economy as a pawn for authoritarianism and military rule.

Witness suspects that police officers disguised as protestors and initiated conflicts; Police denies provocation

Last Sunday night, some police officers disguised as protestors and made arrests in Causeway Bay. A parent who participated in the “Protect our Children and Future Family March” witnessed the incident. She recalled that the atmosphere was calm at first, but a man suspected to be a disguised police officer suddenly assaulted people. She suspected that it was the police officer who initiated the conflicts, creating an excuse for riot police to arrest protestors. She criticised the police for acting without any transparency. Protestors that night also described that they initially thought they were attacked by triads, and thus retaliated.
