In Hong Kong, two staff members of #RoyalTea, a bubble tea shop in Mong Kok that is known for its pro-democracy stance, were taken away by the police on April 11, 2022 to "assist with an investigation".
When the shop reopened on April 14, 2022, about 10 customers patronized it in the first 15 minutes.
A regular customer who came to show support said that the bubble tea shop could be forced to close down for making known its pro-democracy stance.

According to the latest data released by the Hong Kong Police Force, as of January 31, 2022, a total of 10,277 people have been arrested in relation to the anti-Extradition movement in 2019. Among them, 2,810 have been prosecuted.
Of the 1,858 people who have completed judicial proceedings, 1,465 were found legally liable for their offences, including 1,158 being convicted.
297 agreed to bind-over order, 6 minors were subjected to child protection order, leaving the remaining 4 being charged of "contempt of court" in civil procedure.
Among those being convicted, some were sentenced to a prison term from 4 days to 12 years. While some were granted suspended sentence from 12 to 24 months, for others various penalties were imposed, including community service order, restorative order, detention center order, rehabilitation order, reeducation order or training centre order.
Besides, there were 85 cases linked to the National Security Law, the inquest of 64 cases have reportedly been completed.

Ka-Leung Ng, a Hong Kong director who produced the dytopian film #TenYears, has moved to the UK for almost a year; however, he did not announce his whereabouts until September 2021. When asked about the reason, Ng said, "I don't even know how to explain."
Being away for a year, #KaLeungNg still has his mind on Hong Kong, like many other Hong Kong people. Therefore, he organized the 1st Hong Kong Film Festival (UK) with fellows. It was held between March and April in #London, #Manchester, #Bristol and #Edinburgh.
Among his 16 film productions, there are videos related to social movements which are not allowed to be screened in Hong Kong. However, even more are small-scaled independent movie productions that even Hongkongers may not know them.
He knows that it is difficult to produce a movie freely in Hong Kong's current situation. Therefore, he hopes to promote Hong Kong movies in the #UK in various areas, topics and presentation ways throughout the Film Festival. He added, "Even if Hongkongers are emotionally eager to watch some of the movies, we have the responsibility to promote a breadth of movies. Therefore, more people can understand Hong Kong culture and stories... How Hong Kong films move further depends on how we continue to promote overseas."

The City University of Hong Kong (#CityU) demanded a response from a group of students in connection with a farewell ceremony for the students’ union in February 2022.
The move came almost two months after national security police launched a probe into the event.
At least 35 students received emails from the university’s Facilities Management Office on 11 April, 2022 accusing them of committing various offences and misconduct at a rally staged on campus on February 14, 2022.
According to a local media, the email was sent by the Lau Tak-keung, Senior Facilities Manager of the university. Lau is a retired police superintendent. He was a diatrict commander in Sham Shui Po and retired in 2013.
In response to media enquiries, CityU said that its departments handled matters in accordance with “well-established mechanisms and procedures.” Outsiders should not “interfere” with the university’s administration, it said.
However, when responding to Ming Pao, another local media, it stated that "the university management is not aware of the matter."

HK Schools Resumed after "Early Summer Vacation", with Daily Rapid Testing for Students
During the daily #COVID19 press conference on April 11, Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced plans for schools to resume beginning on April 19, after nearly 2 months of suspension due to a wave of #Omicron sweeping through the city.
Students will need to take a rapid test every day before attending school; only those with a negative result will be allowed in.
The government also laid out guidelines for closing schools: if 5% of a school's students and staff test positive, the Centre for Health Protection (#CHP) will investigate the outbreak.
Vaccination will not be required for students, but those without it will not be allowed to attend extracurricular activities.
The timeline for resuming in-person classes:
Secondary schools: Starting May 3, schools can resume their classes in stages or entirely. By May 10, all classes must resume.
Primary schools: classes can resume in stages or entirely starting April 19. All classes must resume by May 3.
Kindergartens: One-third of classes are to resume starting May 3, with the remaining to resume on May 10. All classes must resume by May 16.
This will bring an end to the suspension of classes, which was began on Feb 21 when the government announced an "early summer vacation" for all schools.
During the press conference, Carrie Lam expressed her thanks that more schools have proactively taken anti-pandemic measures, including arranging vaccinations and distributing prevention kits, as a result of the government-mandated "summer vacation".
During the questioning period, a NowTV reporter asked whether parents could opt for online classes, instead of sending their children to school.
Secretary of Education Kevin Yeung replied that the policy was a balance between needs and risks, and they found that despite the risk being non-zero, resuming in-person classes was necessary. He further stated that students aged 6-15 are required by law to attend school.

$90 Million HKD Collected in Anti-Pandemic Fines, Govt Data Shows
In response to the outbreak of #WuhanPneumonia in early 2020, the government enacted a series of social distancing measures, including a #GatheringBan, #MaskMandate, and mandatory use of the "#LeaveHomeSafe" contact tracing app. These regulations are part of the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance, also known as Cap. 599.
From April 1, 2021 to Feb 28, 2022, police had issued 21,613 tickets against more than 1,100 individuals for Cap. 599 violations, collecting $89,980,000HKD in fines for the government.
The number of tickets issued, by regulation, are:
Gathering ban (599G): 13,525 tickets
Mask mandate (599I): 6102 tickets
Business and premises regulation (599F): 1986 tickets
Since the 5th wave of outbreak earlier this year, the number tickets for violating the mask mandate more than doubled, rising from January's 550 to February's 1909.
