Police Cordon Off Sogo Department Store to Prevent Hongkongers from Mourning Fellow Citizen

At around 17:20 in Hong Kong on July 2, 2021, over 50 police officers, all wearing stab proof vests, are stationed in Causeway Bay.

They cordoned off major roads nearby Sogo Department store to forbid citizens from laying flowers in commemoration of the man who died a day ago after knifing a policeman and stabbing himself.

Police warned of civilians in the shoppers' district of the violating gathering ban.

Since this morning, civilians have been bringing flowers to pay tribute to the man. One civilian offered free hug to encourage fellow Hongkongers in challenging times "Many Hongkongers need a hug right now".

Mourner with Flowers Searched Twice by Police within Two Minutes

In Hong Kong on July 2, 2021, a man with yellow flowers was stopped and searched by the police twice within the interval of 2 minutes.

When the citizen asked for the reason, the police replied glibly, “Well you didn’t leave here, so we’ll have to do it again.”

It was unclear if there would be a third time.

A day ago on July 1, 50-year-old #LeungKinFai died after knifing a police and stabbinh himself reportedly. Thereafter, people have been visiting the site with flowers to pay tribute to the deceased.

Causeway Bay in Lockdown; Mourners and Passersby Stopped and Searched alike

On July 1, 2021, Mr. #LeungKinFai attacked a police officer and died due to the incident.

The next day, mourners, old and young, gathered at Causeway Bay to commemorate his martyred act against tyranny, placing white chrysanthemum on the spot the incident happened.

Three young mourners are stopped and searched. Police threatened them that they would be arrested under the Covid gathering ban (Cap. 599G), and must dismiss at once. Meanwhile, a foreigner asked the Police Media Liaison Cadre the reason they has been blocking the whole area.

When replied that they blocked the area under the gathering ban, the foreigner questioned whether it is appropriate to block a road to enforce a gathering ban, to which the Cadre suddenly shouted on their microphone, “Please leave!”

HK Police stop & search a family with kids for no apparent reason

A young couple was seen taking their sons to mourn the deceased who stabbed himself after knifing a police officer on 1 July 2021 in Hong Kong.

Holding white flowers in their tiny hands, the two little boys closed their eyes to pay tribute to the man who took his life to express disappointment at police collusions.

Without providing any reason, the family of four was stopped and searched at the scene by police officers nearby.

Innocent Elderly Pulled Into Police Cordon Vomits out of Anxiety

An innocent old lady who was pulled into the police cordon for no apparent reason was seen vomiting due to extreme anxiety. A woman beside her was seen comforting her, while being in tears herself.

The police said that they have called an ambulance. However, has been more than 10 minutes but no ambulance in sight.

Police disrespectfully take away flowers for Deceased Civilian from the altar

On July 2, 2021, citizens initiated mourning activity since the morning into the evening.

Hongkongers from different districts travelled to Causeway Bay to lay flowers and pay tribute to Mr. #LeungKinFai, who passed away by stabbing himself after injuring a policeman a day before.

Amidst heavy police presence, a small flower altar was sighted outside Sogo Department Store, where the incident took place.

However, just momentarily, two police officers walked to the altar and removed all the white flowers laid on the ground to mourn the deceased. It was around 21:45 in the evening.

HK Man Can't Stand "Police Harbouring Criminals" Knifes Officer and Kills Himself

#LeungKinFai is the man who passed away on July 1, 2021. It was reported that he knifed a policeman before stabbing himself on the right chest. He died at around 23:20.

According to sources, he was a merchandizing manager in a big firm Vitasoy and lived with his parents. He has no record of mental history nor debt.

According to the police, he left behind a usb stick which contains documents regarding his funeral preparation, handover of job responsibilities, and the arrangement of his assets.

Other files documented his discontent towards the Hong Kong Police Force. These include the police harbouring the criminals.
