The magistrate Eddie Yip Chor-man spent the morning questioning the prosecution’s opening statement, in which the prosecution mentioned multiple times that a “violent confrontation took place” between the while-clad and black-clad, but did not provide any detail of the confrontation.
Yip questioned that, “Does 'violent confrontation' mean the two parties fought each other?” and “who fought whom first” in the “violent confrontation”.
In response, the prosecution clarified that it was the white-clad who hit the black-clad with rattan canes and wooden sticks while the black-clad counter-attacked.
Magistrate Yip expressed dissatisfaction, blasting the prosecution, “Are you writing a flashback or a time-travelling novel? We’re not making a film. It looks like you have edited that film!”
He later concluded that, “It turns out that the 6 (Chinese) characters (violent confrontation taken place) have encapsulated a lot.”
The Magistrate also questioned why the prosecution detailed a screening event on 16 Jul in the first 2 paragraphs of the statement.
The prosecution ended up admitting that the screening event was irrelevant and was slammed by Yip of wasting time.

Jan (alias), a 17-year-old Hong Kong youth, was charged with rioting.
In the end, he chose to plead guilty.
During a junior high school field trip, Jan visited a prison in Hong Kong. At the time, he thought, "I would never go to jail in my life. What's the point of the visit?"
He never imagined that in just a few years, he would be imprisoned because of a pro-democracy movement.
During a relatively mild clash, Jan was arrested on a charge of unlawful assembly. While he was detained, however, the police suddenly changed his charge to rioting. This was a complete surprise to Jan, and he thought the new charge was ridiculous.
His lawyer eventually managed to secure approval for his bail, though with strict curfew conditions. "I've lost most of my freedoms well before they declare me guilty," Jan said.
During a meeting, his lawyer explained to him that the police already had enough evidence to make the rioting charge stick. His mother immediately broke down in tears; Jan himself was overwhelmed by lethargy, staying up late and skipping school for a whole month, only imagining what prison life would be like.
Eventually, he decided to plead guilty, since it would lead to his sentence being reduced by one-third. After the court hearing, he saw forum posts questioning his plea when he had done no wrong. He was perplexed at their thinking. "'If your heart is truly in this movement,' I thought, 'why would you want any of us to get a longer sentence?"

As of April 2021, the Hong Kong Police has arrested over 10,000 people in connection to the 2019 Anti-ELAB movement. Among them, 1,700 were minors.
As of June 7, 2021, according to statistics provided by Stand News, 757 people are charged with riotting. 70% of them are below 25 years old and 75 of them are underaged. As of April 13, 2021, 28 people have been convicted. 23 of them have been sentenced; the longest jail time among them is 5 years and 6 months.

Two years ago, pro-democracy Hongkongers surrounded the Legislative Council building, with a hope to prevent the second reading of the amendment bill that proposed extradition to China.
Despite the peaceful rally, the police deployed #TearGas grenades and shot #RubberBullets at unarmed civilians, causing countless injuries in the crowd.
Whereas the police was condemned on an international level for their abuse of power and use of violence, the authorities in Hong Kong insisted in categorizing the pro-democracy rally in the Admiralty area as a "riot".
The government's reaction infuriated many citizens, causing over 2 million people to take part in Hong Kong's largest protest in history on June 16, 2019.

2 years ago in 2019, "yellow raincoat man" Marco Leung displayed banners that read "Carrie Lam, Step Down" and "say no to extradition to China" on top of a shoping mall in Admiralty, Hong Kong.

2 years ago in 2019, white-clad mobsters stormed into the train cabinets and the platform of Yuen Long west Rail station to brutally assault black-clad civilians on their way home after a long day of pro-democracy rally.
Police-triad collusions were alleged as police's arrival at the scene was delayed. In addition to closing the police station early, uniformed police officers, patrolling nearby the train station, were sighted turning a blind eye to the assault and left the scene without rendering support to those bellowed for help.
The #YuenLong721 incident, which happened on July 21, 2019 is one of the most remembered incidents during the pro-democracy movement in 2019.
Since then, pro-democracy supporters came to the station every month to commemorate the incident, showing their defiance and strong belief in freedom and democracy.
On July 21, 2021, Lam Chun, a vocal member of Tin Shui Wai Connect, called on citizens to think of possible quests for democracy amidst Chinese tyranny as shown in the imposition of National Security Law in Hong Kong in July 2020.
Tang Kin-wah, an executive member of HKCTU mentioned another incident that took place on the same day in 2019 when Hong Kong police headshot 36 rubber bullets and countless rounds of tear gas at pro-democracy citizens demonstrated in front of the Chinese Liaison Office in Sheung Wan and Central.
Tang said, on that day, courageous Hongkongers pressed forward together, each supporting another.
He was, however, saddened to see local authorities attempted to water-down the #YuenLong721 incident by distorting some most obvious facts.
He urged Hongkongers to stand in solidarity and continue their fight for freedom in order to defend their own rights.
Moments after the booth were set up on July 21, 2021, hundreds of police officers, arrived at the scene to "remind citizens of the gathering restrictions".
