Gov't Stops Incumbent #DistrictCouncillor's Salary and Office Income, #TedHui: Lack of Legal Basis shows the Panic of Hong Kong’s political power”

The Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR government is stopping the payroll, the allowance and the expense reimbursement of district councillor Ted Hui from December 3, 2020. The government cited Hui’s self-exile as a reason.

Hui responded to the Hong Kong government’s decision as “No legal basis at all”. He also states that his HSBC bank account has been frozen, making it impossible to withdraw any of his salary since then.

Hui said the government’s treatment of him is a political statement but should be considered useless. The government’s action is severely impacting the district councillor's office that has continued to serve Hong Kong citizens.

Hui said that the government should not stop any payment of the payroll when the councillors are still serving their term of office. He is very disappointed with how the government wields political power and ignores the public interest.

In what world will you get jailed for 21 months for using eggs as a "weapon"? Or for 3.5 months for "attacking" with your chest? I guess the answer depends on who you are "attacking" them with. If it's the HKPF, you will get jailed for sure in Hong Kong.

Families of 12 Hong Kong Youth demand for open trail

Feared of a secret trail and that Chinese and Hong Kong Authorities might impose administrative measures to forbid them from attending court hearing, families of the 12 Youth being detained in China Yantin Detention Center issued an open letter today (21 December) asking the authorities for assistance and other discretionary arrangements.

The Shenzhen Yantian District People's Procuratorate announced on December 16 that 10 of the 12 detained Hongkongers will be formally charged, and a closed-door hearing will be held for the other two to decide whether the charges will be dropped.

Families stressed in the Open Letter, “it has been a week, … the authorities have not provided us with the indictment or any case papers, we have no way to know the details of the charges against our children and the proposed sentences.”

Families raised 5 demands in their open letter;

• Open the trial to the public and webcast the trial;

• Protect the right of family members to attend the trial by informing the trial date no less than 20 days before the trial date, so that early testing and other arrangements can be made;

• Or allow test results to substitute the two-week quarantine requirement for the entry of the family members;

• Provide the families with the Indictment and records of interview, and disclose the list of members of the panel and the prosecutor to the public;

• Provide the identity and contact information of all government-assigned lawyers; and

• Protect the right of defense of the 12 Hongkongers and allow the family-appointed lawyers to defend for them.

Zhao Lijian posts 'Australian Soldier Killing Child' image. Australian PM: fake image insults soldiers, demands an apology.

Australia-China Relations have deteriorated again after the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian posted a picture of an Australian soldier killing an Afghan child on Twitter. The post immediately caused discontent in Australia, with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison calling the fake image offensive and objectionable, and demanding an apology from China.

The image shows a man in military uniform standing on a puzzle of the Australian and Afghan flags with a sabre held to the boy's neck and the words "Don't be afraid, we are coming to bring you peace."

The picture looks quite real, but according to the Australian media, it is actually a satirical painting by the pro-China creator "Wu He Qi Lin". Zhao wrote “Shocked by murder of Afghan civilians & prisoners by Australian soldiers. call for holding them accountable.” on a Twitter post with the picture.
