Granny Wong: Truth of 721 incident will eventually be divulged

Granny Wong was sighted in Yuen Long West Rail Station braving the grip of National Security Law and enforcement of social distancing restrictions in Hong Kong. Despite her old age, Granny Wong displayed of her behaviour, courage and defiance to fight on for democracy and freedom.

Pointing at a movie poster that read “Lie”, Wong wanted Hongkongers to remain hopeful that “lies will be burst eventually like balloons being popped.”

On the evening of 21 July 2019, a large group of white-clad mobsters, allegedly linked to triads, indiscriminately attacked pro-democracy protesters on their way home on a West Rail train with steel rods and rattan canes. At least 45 people were severely injured, including the elderly, children, journalists and lawmakers. Hong Kong Police, suspected of colluding with the white-clad mobsters, has then been criticised for their inaction in the incident amid the attack of innocent civilians.

However, Hong Kong police were attempting to re-write the history as recounting the clashes as "between two evenly-matched rivals" and denied that they were slow to respond.

#TinShuiWaiConnection Reminds Hongkongers to Resist Government's Whitewashing

Yuen Long district Councilor Lam Chun, of the district concern group Tin Shui Wai Connection, displayed an event chronicle of July 21, 2019, where white-clad mobs attacked civilians and passengers including those returning from a pro-democracy protest of the day.

Not only that the police reportedly turned a blind eye to the attacks, but the authorities have been whitewashing the happenings of the day since then. RTHK journalist Bao Choy was even arrested for giving false statement when conducting journalistic investigation.

In the video, Lam expressed frustration and rage at the authorities organised actions to distort the 721 incident in 2019. He called for citizens to collect and retain relevant materials. Lam said hopefully, 721 incident will be justly recorded as part of Hong Kong history in distant future.

University Student in Hong Kong Develops a Game to Reenact Yuen Long 7.21 Mob Attack: “The Reality is As Absurd As a Game World”

The Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Protests initiated the democracy movement in Hong Kong since 2019. Although street protests have become scarce, the fight for freedom continues in various creative works.

The July 21 mob attack in Yuen Long, the Lennon Wall and the human chains formed by Hong Kong students and citizens became the inspiration to a computer game developed by #Mighcty, a university student in Hong Kong.

“I hope my game players can know what HongKongers have been experiencing.”

Mighcty, a graduating university student, created, on his own, “The Legacy of Datura”, a 2D minimalist role-playing game:

https://mighcty.itch.io/legacy-of-datura

The protagonist, Cyrus, was an ordinary secondary school student, who gained magical power when accidentally stepping into a world of magic, causing attention from the magical “parliament”. When Cyrus returned to his won world, he witnessed citizens being attacked in a tran station by a group of armed men dressed in white. He could not help but use his power to save the passengers, thus beginning his adventurous story.

“The police should uphold justice and protect the citizens, but nothing was done by a organisation who was supposed to be the fairest and most justified," Mighcty said that the 7.21 Yuen Long mob attack in reality ruined his trust in the government. Therefore, he decided to bring in current events into the game which was still in the conceptual stage.

“At first, I only wanted to develop a game to introduce Hong Kong, such as her tourist spots and food culture. But lately, it’s like I don’t know about this Hong Kong anymore. I feel that it is necessary to explain why the city became the way she is now.”

Judge Slams Prosecution of #YuenLong721 a wasting of the court’s time

The magistrate Eddie Yip Chor-man spent the morning questioning the prosecution’s opening statement, in which the prosecution mentioned multiple times that a “violent confrontation took place” between the while-clad and black-clad, but did not provide any detail of the confrontation.

Yip questioned that, “Does 'violent confrontation' mean the two parties fought each other?” and “who fought whom first” in the “violent confrontation”.

In response, the prosecution clarified that it was the white-clad who hit the black-clad with rattan canes and wooden sticks while the black-clad counter-attacked.

Magistrate Yip expressed dissatisfaction, blasting the prosecution, “Are you writing a flashback or a time-travelling novel? We’re not making a film. It looks like you have edited that film!”

He later concluded that, “It turns out that the 6 (Chinese) characters (violent confrontation taken place) have encapsulated a lot.”

The Magistrate also questioned why the prosecution detailed a screening event on 16 Jul in the first 2 paragraphs of the statement.

The prosecution ended up admitting that the screening event was irrelevant and was slammed by Yip of wasting time.
