"Sing Hallelujah": Citizen Plays Hymn for Deceased Alex Chow

A young man was seen playing "Sing Hallelujah to the Lord" on recorder near the memorial for Alex Chow on the one-year mark of his death.

The hymn was popularized at the Anti-ELAB protests last June, when pro-demicracy protesters sang the song at the frontlines in an attempt to keep both sides from violent clashes.

Police Order Journalists to Not Take Picture of the Mourning Event

A Stand News journalist questioned the police about their order to journalists to not take pictures.

Refusing to answer, the Police Public Relation Branch (PPRB) staff backed away to the other side of the road and formed a line to block the mourning site.

Police armed with pepper balls projectiles were stationed in the area. Police also cordoned off the altar to bar civilians from paying tribute to deceased 22-year-old pro-democracy student Alex Chow.

Near the mourning site for the deceased student Alex Chow, police fined at least 6 people including civilians, district councillor and staff running an anti-pandemic street booth, for violating the gathering ban.

According to the Ordinance Cap. 599, those who are carrying out their job duty and anti-pandemic events should be exempted from the gathering ban.

According to sources, district councillor Lee Ka-yui, when encircled and ticketed by the police, was operating a street station concerning flu vaccination.
