Understanding Hong Kong's chaos in 800 words

(4 May) Hong Kong's chaos is caused by its eventual grafting onto China's authoritarian soil two decades after the transfer of sovereignty.

Hong Kong was intended to have been ruled directly by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Before Britain pulled out, however, it unexpectedly drove a wedge in the plan with the Sino-British Joint Declaration. From that, the Basic Law was derived. China was left stuck with a shell. At the time, there was no way to absorb Hong Kong into the CCP's regime.

//Hong Kong's chaos is nothing more than China's process of transforming it from the originally promised "two systems" into "one country". China kept saying it was an "acclimatisation period" but actually meant it to be the digestion of Hongkongers' so-called elitism. Even the so-called immature democracy in Hong Kong politics is to be digested away, step by step.

//"How is this good for China? China needs to keep Hong Kong as an international gateway for foreign exchange."... The mindset of communist-ruled China is very different from the common wisdom of the West, however.

On Darwinism and Theology

(24 Apr) With the world's population at 7.7 billion, it is time for nature to take its course.

The last inception of human civilisation occurred during the Renaissance at the beginning of the 16th century. Before the Renaissance, the plague brought in by Mongol barbarians concluded Europe's Middle Ages, which spanned a millennium. Since then, for five hundred years up to the present day, the West laid the basis to lead the new era of human civilisation.

//Huang's distinctive genes of tyranny, Mao Zedong's 28-year rule came into fruition. The whole population experienced infighting and mutual cannibalism. Economic production came to a standstill. Such was the great fortune of Western civilisation.//

//Despite still being modelled after the one-party dictatorship, [the country's] huge market was used to lure the West. //

//The virus of "political correctness" and the greediness of Wall Street's globalisation led to the globalisation of the Wuhan pneumonia.//

//Darwinism confirms that many stupid Western "elites" were subject to their own greed and foreign lies, which included the witchcraft of the WHO's Tedros. //

//From the West's initial prejudice against face masks, one could foresee that mutual destruction was inevitable. //

//Taiwan. Its foundations of hygiene awareness and hospital systems were superior. Along with its experience in handling China, they were already used to survive long term with closed borders.//

//"globalisation" will disintegrate. //

//There will be a new world order, a new era of civilisation.//

To Rule the Earth

(5 May) All the so-called "contradictions between China and Hong Kong" can be boiled down to a single word, "rule".

"Rule" is the first word of common knowledge in communist China. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has a tremendous ingrained "desire to rule the people". This fondness for ruling people stems from a strong desire for power. The pursuit of power is a desire of human nature, especially among remarkable people. Otherwise, there would not be any naturally talented leaders in this world.

//While the Communist Party enjoys ruling people, they also enjoy micro-managing*.

//In 1977, Deng Xiaoping's discovered that the Communist Party's pathological desire for power ruled the economy too strictly and the economy was not going to survive;

//Mao revealed that he "sought to rule the earth"

//constructing a "community with a shared future for mankind" requires the restructuring of the world's social order and international organisations, like WHO. The persistent desire that "sought to rule the earth" was there all along.

//The purpose of claiming back a territory is to rule its people.

Actually, it is already closed

(26 May) China has boldly introduced the "National Security Law" into Hong Kong and set up a special agency to directly enforce it. It would not be regulated under Basic Law Article 22, effectively kicking Carrie Lam's SAR government and the police to the curb. At the same time, the secret police would be established.

Quickly showing its hand, China is convinced that international capital from the West would be unwilling to give up its huge market and Hong Kong this casino. The West would not leave the gambling table.

//What China cannot manipulate are the judicial system created from English common law and the judges at every level whose legal culture is based on English rational thought.

//China has long been striking away at the root of the problem... dismissing the Dean of the Faculty of Law Johannes Chan who was believed to be nurturing the newer ranks with English thought.

//The third issue is the banking and finance sector. This piece of territory is almost entirely under American control.

//With the Legislative Council elections coming up in September, China senses a great crisis. If certain academics and the pan-democrats are allowed to advocate for its 35+ [seats] and end up snatching more than half of them, the 2020-21 government budget will not be passed.

//If police funding is increased, the Legislative Council will veto the entire budget.

//If Hong Kong had implemented universal suffrage earlier on, the opposition and the government would have learned to compromise in council meetings.

//Hong Kong's Cinderella fairy tale actually ended on 30 June 1997. It's just that too many failed to believe it was closed and wanted a couple more waltzes.

With One Single App, All the Children Are ‘Owned’

After its recent border brawl with China, India’s latest move is to ban over 50 Chinese apps.  Apart from WeChat, also on the list is video-sharing app TikTok, which boasts 500 million users worldwide.

TikTok, known originally as Douyin, is a Chinese app disguised with a catchy English moniker aiming for international consumption.  In 2019, the number of TikTok downloads has seen an increase to 1.5 billion, raising concerns from US authorities.

First came YouTube.  Then it was Instagram.  These outlets have already racked up many an hour of unproductivity.  In comes TikTok, where the world’s population of mediocrities needs only to lip-sync to phrases of trendy songs, hip-twirl while scantily clad, or simply act like buffoons to reap in thousands of ‘likes’ and become the next internet sensation.  China’s TikTok thus feeds to the world’s lower echelon’s primal urge to flaunt their feathers for fame, but the app has quickly devolved into what is essentially an aquarium for paedophiles.  Statistics show that the world’s most fervent TikTok users are young women, with a majority being underage girls no less.  Perhaps the glorification of amateur performances in reality shows like America’s Got Talent has brought people to think that they have also got the chops.  Whatever the reason, prepubescent girls as young as 13 or 14, who are painting their lips red and donning next to nothing baring their belly buttons and thighs for all to see, are now being sexualized by filthy old men eyeing them like hungry predators via a mobile app platform.

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has even found TikTok to have illegally collected personal information from children under 13.   A monetary settlement of a staggering US$5.7 million has since been obtained from the app.

As part of the settlement, TikTok has promised to better protect the rights of children by strengthening comment censor and encouraging users to report any content involving sex, terrorism, drug use or illegal firearms sales.  However, experts have since uncovered that TikTok has exploited AI technology to push certain clips, including propaganda from Mainland China.

This February, reports from UK have warned that children as young as eight are being preyed upon by TikTok predators using false identities.

In the US, police have arrested a 35-year-old man for engaging in sexually explicit chats with at least 21 underage victims while posing himself as a TikTok spectator.  Under various disguises and premises, predators groom underage girls first by engaging in private chats then entice the victims to take sexually explicit photos.  In many developing countries, the girls are lured to meet in person and even sold for further exploitation.  Gangs of paedophile under the guise of talent agents would heap praises on young girls, telling the girls that they have natural talent to become singing superstars.

Although TikTok has promised the FTC that their AI technology would curb children under 13 from using the app, many children lie about their age in order to feed their addiction to the app.  The number of sexual crimes involving children using TikTok may even rival that of Facebook.  Predators would take control of the young girls’ accounts to send and receive sexual content.

US authorities believe that TikTok is even collecting personal data from youths and children around the world for the Chinese government.  Is this what it means by “who owns the youth gains the future”?  Or is it taking one step further towards “He who ‘pwns’ the children of the entire world gains the future of the entire world”?

China’s New and Wise Policy for Civil Servants

(14 Jul) China's announcement on prohibiting civil servants from emigration deserves our support.

Firstly, in the view of national security, this policy prevents civil servants from divulging in state secrets to western countries after retirement.

Secondly, it will maintain the national integrity of cadres of Chinese officials by putting an end to teary eyes upon seeing the flag-raising ceremony and the subsequent conspiracy to anoint the feet of their entire family with the soil of the UK, US, Canada, Australia and other Western countries for asylum.

Likewise, now that Hong Kong has the National Security Law, should this policy also not apply to Hong Kong's government officials?

On 8 June 2020, Patrick Nip Tak-kuen, the Secretary for the Civil Service in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) stated, " Hong Kong civil servants are also China's civil servants." This argument is absolutely correct.

Based on the nation's interest above all else, the civil servants in HKSAR, including its government officials, have no reason to enjoy privileges different from those of the motherland.

After retirement from working at the departmental level, do you think the British would be kind enough to let you reunite with your kids in the UK? Do you think they would let you settle down, do a bit of gardening and casually go for dim sum in Chinatown? Wouldn't their officials come to your door to threaten your right of abode by demanding the details of the number of times you went to Beijing, Shanghai, the Kylin Villa in Shenzhen and other undisclosed locations for briefings while in office? It would help them study the body language and speech patterns of Chinese Communist Party leaders so that Western diplomats could develop more concise policies on China.

Do you agree?

Editor’s Note: The Trump administration has a similar idea to this new China’s policy, quite a good match.

Common knowledge of architecture in Mulan

Editor's Note:
In the west, we have Foucault's panopticon as a metaphor for a higher authority surveilling the common folk. In this article, the author explores how the Chinese government turns this concept on its head with the tulou, where the common folk surveil each other.

(11 Sep) After mainland Chinese netizens watched pirated copies of Disney's Orientalist and novelty-seeking rendition of Mulan, they let loose their unabated criticism: the costumes were not historically accurate, Fujian's tulous showed up in the North China region, the high-end escort-worthy looks of top actress Liu Yifei failed to make up for her rigid expression throughout the movie - it was like her face was paralysed. The mainland market appreciated none of this.

//[Then,] Disney came along to trample on the culture of Chinese architecture. South China's Fujian tulous were haphazardly transported to an arid region.

//Just as the poetic saga of Hua Mulan represents the advanced Han civilization annihilating the savage race of Mongolia's barbarians, the screening of Mulan coincided with the Chinese government destroying all the [native] language textbooks in Inner Mongolia. [The act] inherited the spirit of Mulan and brought more vibrance to the film. If I were the Executive Chairman of Disney, I would have taken the hint. After its screening, I would have bought land from the filming location in Xinjiang and open up a new Disney park. It would welcome the Central Asian and European tourism markets under the Belt and Road Initiative.

From TNT to Nuclear Explosion – Chip Tsao

(06 Aug)Western countries are getting themselves more familiar with China’s unique survival philosophy following year after year of dealing with the dictatorship – saving face every second, but the things they do are often shameless.

In English, face (saving) bears with honour meaning people, who value face saving, will care about their behaviour not to shame themselves / be shamed. Therefore, to certain extent, face and honour are same for others to put credit on an individual that he / she is decent and trustworthy. In other words, if an individual loses face, embarrassment and ridiculing will follow as well as all his / her credit, reputation, honour in a society will be gone.

That is different in China (at least CCP’s culture) – a Dama (Dama is a Chinese term to describe housewife in their 40s+) visits Paris department store shopping for EUR100K of goods, putting on a Ferragamo scarf, taking selfie by Huawei phone and sharing it online. This is a familiar story everywhere with Damas’ presence at which they save face as much as they can / need to. But then the story will move on to phase 2 – footing to Louvre Museum with friends, getting glad, making a hubbub and performing CCP style dancing (red dance). At the scene, it raises everyone’s eyebrows, from French to all non-CCP tourists. Most importantly, Damas would never sense any problem on that as CCP is left far behind from the international standard which sees the acts as insulting themselves, their organization and race, losing all honour (if any in the heart of CCP’s people).

Another example – CCP students abroad from rich families would drive their Ferrari car to school occupying 2 car parking spaces, saving face in their mind but raising everyone else eyebrows. They would even not sense losing face upon penalized by professors resulting from hiring someone to do assignments or take exams for them. In westerners’ eyes, it is not understandable why an individual hardly saves face caring nothing about honour and reputation. That is CCP’s promoting “face” – staying at the basic needs level saving face by wealth only, removing honour and reputation sense from people’s mind as they are important for people to keep their independent and critical thinking, which are extremely feared by CCP.

Year after year, many western Chinese scholars keep studying this strange mentality – Professor KING Yeo Chi Ambrose’s book “Face, Shame and Chinese’s behavior” is very impressive. Doctor HWANG Kwang Kuo’s “Confucianism and Relationship-ism affecting Chinese’s value on Face” illustrates the Guanxism (relationship (Guanxi, phonetic of relationship in Mandarin)) is actually from the sense of inferiority of China’s people who need Confucianism connected relationship and people to overcome the feeling of inferiority. When a group of such people build the network of relationship, the feeling of inferiority would become the group’s arrogance.

With the advanced social medias and networking tools invented by Americans, China’s people enhance such network of relationship substantially. In other words, they are more crazy and active to enjoy showing off their wealthy but bad taste and shameless to the world, comparing to the last generation without internet. That is our caption today – if Cultural Revolution 2.0 is activated, those brainwashed population who were just TM level in old days would become nuclear bomb.

Americans finally got enlightened and is roping other western countries in planning to get rid of this disaster made by CCP, though it is a bit late.

Hong Kong Writer #ChipTsao: "This is the first Black Christmas in Hong Kong since 1941"

Chip Tsao is a Hong Kong-based columnist, commentator, and writer. This is what he wrote for #Christmas2020 :

"Before the Change, on Christmas Days in the past, Hong Kong didn’t have the Virus, the group gathering ban and the HKSAR government.

This is the first Black Christmas in Hong Kong since 1941.

Christmas is a Christian festival about our belief in God. Perhaps we have forgotten the meaning behind Christmas; which is why the Virus is spreading worldwide.

Hang in there, even life is tough. More turmoil and risk are expected in 2021. Hope everyone is cautious and think carefully. Merry Christmas and be safe."
