Wuhan Citizens: "Whether the official figure is accurate or not ... This is a political treatment, not medical treatment"

People in Wuhan told RTHK the reality is far from having none local infection of coronavirus in China.

Wuhan authorities have already closed the 10 or so temporary hospitals where tests were conducted on people showing mild symptoms.

A Wuhan resident said that his 70-year-old mother suffered from pneumonia once again after she was discharged from hospital and is now in isolation at a hotel. No hospitals were prepared to admit her.

Aother person said his mother, who is in hospital with a heart problem, had seen coronavirus patients being turned away by staff, without testing to back the official data of confirmed cases.

A man whose mother died of Covid-19 criticised the government for failing to warn people about the epidemic and for even claiming there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission up until mid January.

China is Changing the History of Wuhan Pneumonia Outbreak

The Chinese Communist Party has begun “revising” the history of the Wuhan pneumonia outbreak. Recently, the English homepage of the state-run Global Times secretly changed the original wording “Wuhan pneumonia” to “unknown pneumonia related to Coronavirus” on a news article dated January 18, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government has been disseminating news referring the United States to the origin of the Wuhan Pneumonia.

//Since August 2019, ProPublica has tracked more than 10,000 suspected fake Twitter accounts involved in a coordinated influence campaign with ties to the Chinese government. Among those are the hacked accounts of users from around the world that now post propaganda and disinformation about the coronavirus outbreak, the Hong Kong protests and other topics of state interest.

Those accounts’ content and behavior closely mirrored the tactics of the Chinese government influence campaigns publicly unmasked by Twitter in August and September 2019.

We found a pattern of coordinated activity among the fake accounts that appeared to be aimed at building momentum for particular storylines. ProPublica uncovered additional evidence that these accounts operated as part of a Chinese government influence campaign.//

U.S. Secretary of State: China Still Withholding Coronavirus Information

[Editor's note: The image shows patients sharing ventilators in a hospital in New York]

In an interview with a radio program on March 24, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo repeated previous charges that Beijing's delay in sharing information about the virus had created risks to people worldwide and said this had "truly put thousands of lives at risk."

"My concern is that this cover-up, this disinformation that the Chinese Communist Party is engaged in, is still denying the world the information it needs so that we can prevent further cases or something like this from recurring again," he added.

"This is an ongoing global crisis, and we need to make sure that every country today is being transparent, sharing what's really going on, so that the global community, the global health care, infectious disease community can begin to work on this in a holistic way."

Chinese Netizens Condemn the Mourning of Hong Kong's Legend Leslie Cheung

Leslie Cheung, an iconic Hong Kong superstar, passed away on April 1, 2003. On that day every year, his fans from around the world mourn outside the Mandarin Hotel, the site of his passing, while others share their fond memories of Leslie Cheung on social media.

This year on April 1, veteran actor and Cantonese opera artist Law Ka-ying posted a photo he took with Leslie Cheung on his WeChat page.

Law was, however, attacked by many Chinese netizens who criticized Lo for not paying respect to "people's army, firefighters, doctors, police and the frontline workers" in times of coronavirus outbreak.

Law left a new message in the afternoon: "It's better not to post anything on WeChat"

From Ebola Virus to "CCP Virus"

From Ebola Virus to "CCP Virus"

In reality as well as theory one should be politically correct. Expressions such as "people of color" might propagate stereotypes, just as racial bias still linger in judiciary in multicultural states (Bielen et al. 2019).

Certainly, one can reword "Wuhan Pneumonia" to avoid China's stark accusation of 'racism' in the terminology; however, this would be serving the 'political correctness' set by the Communist Part of China, for that Chinese government has been changing its narrative of what it once called the "Wuhan pneumomia". In the revised narrative put forward by the Chinese Communist Party in 2020, the origin of COVID-19 is no longer Wuhan in China, the first epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, but the U.S. or perhaps Italy. Although China's state media China Daily had used the term "Wuhan pneumonia" in December 2019, Chinese government now condemns the world (in particular, the U.S.) for using the 'racist' term.

Considering "Spanish flu", "Ebola virus", "Hong Kong flu", "German measles", "Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS)" and "Japanese encephalitis", these are precedent examples of naming a disease after a place or site of its first outbreak. While more and more people including U.S. president Donald Trump called COVID-19 a "CCP virus", let us not forget what Prof. Ho-Fung Hung of Johns Hopkins University reminds us that criticizing the Chinese government should not be obscured as a racism.

When people around the world are combating this coronavirus, please do not forget every loss of life that has not been counted in reality but took place in the multiverse that the Chinese government could not cover up. We cannot time travel to undo the past, but we shall always remember the truths to avoid making more mistakes in the future.

Please leave behind your lament and together we will strive for a better future and pursue happiness for the human race. Hongkongers will continue to be the whistleblower to uncover CCP's doing and China authoritarianism, the root cause of this coronavirus pandemic.

Hong Kong Government: Episode Has Violated the "One China" Principle;
RTHK Reporter: Episode Only Discusses Global Anti-pandemic Effort

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Edward Yau Tang-wah reiterated after attending a special meeting of the Finance Committee that The Pulse, an news programme produced by the public broadcaster RTHK, violated the "One China" principle, although the violation did not stem from individual interviews or angles.

In response to Yau's ambivalent accusation, Yvonne Tong, a producer and the host of the said programme in RTHK, stated on Twitter that The Pulse had only focused on the global anti-pandemic effort during said episode. Yau's comment caused her to wonder how the episode could violate the "One China" principle, calling into question whether or not Yau have seen the episode.
