Riot Police and Special Tactical Squad officers suddenly rushed inside Time Square mall and fired pepper balls multiple times. The intensity from the shots coming from the pepper balls have also seemed to cause some weakening in the plaster ceiling, as debris could be seen lying all over the floor.

Civilians Encourage and Stand in Solidarity With Arrestees

2042 | #CausewayBay
A long queue of black-clad civilians, who were arrested by riot police earlier, were transported to police station and detention centre by a coach. Other bystanders kept shouting, reminding the arrestees to look at the camera and shout out their names. It has, unfortunately, become a routine as numerous cases of "suicide" occurred last year.

They also encouraged the arrestees to "Hang in there" in order to show solidarity. Meanwhile, heavy-handed deployment of riot police could be seen.

New Sponge Grenades Contain Chemicals Found in Tear Gas

The Police Tactical Unit (PTU) fired sponge grenades at protesters earlier on at Times Square in Causeway Bay.

Afterwards, a new model of sponge grenades, as seen on the expended cartridge, with the model number "NT-901/CS" was left on the ground.

This particular ammunition was found to have been made in Brazil. The bullet had also been discovered to be fired from a 40mm grenade launcher, the exact same launcher they use to deploy teargas canisters. The new round in the arsenal was found to be loaded with the chemical, 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile, commonly referred to as CS gas, or more commonly known as teargas.
