'Lunch with You' Continues on the First Anniversary of Protest
The HKSAR government’s reckless introduction of Extradition Bill last year shocked the city’s population, resulting in 1.03 million HongKongers taking their disatisfaction out to the streets on June 9, 2019, marking the beginning of the anti-ELAB movement.
Although the Bill was eventually shelfed on October 23, 2019, the movement’s five demands were never properly addressed.
Following the passage of the National Anthem Law and the National Security Law last week, and in the face of stifled freedom and democracy, netizens called on HongKonger’s to fight on during their lunch breaks in 7 districts, including Wanchai, Central, Taikoo, Kwai Chung, San Po Kong, Kowloon Bay and Kwun Tong.
Police were sighted in these districts standing guard, broadcasting “gathering restrictions” and urging citizens to disperse and threatening further actions if they did not comply.
