966 Time Traveller

As a storyteller that tells tales with music, the shop owner travelled around Europe as a musician in his early years. He strolled down streets and lanes for hidden gems in small shops and markets and eventually built a collection of handicrafts, vintage clothes and watches from different countries. After returning to Hong Kong, he opened this general store to house all these local treasures from different places.

It is called a general store because it is home for a wide variety of items, each with its own history. Listening to the shop owner’s telling of their stories is like witnessing how he encountered these old friends of his one by one. He is particularly fond of his Japanese watches and vintage clothes which he never gets tired of talking about.

966 Time Traveller also sells campaigning items to support the movement. The most spectacular one must be the 18-district Lipig lightbox with adjustable brightness. It also acts as a music box that plays 'Glory to Hong Kong'. Since it is entirely hand-made, place your order if you are interested.

The shop owner has much faith in the yellow economic circle as it brings together like-minded customers and changes their old shopping habits. On top of that yellow businesses are supporting each other, and this is most evident for catering businesses. The shop owner hopes that in the future similar strong bonding can also take shape among businesses in other industries.

Government Body Cancels Police Review by District Council,
Pro-Democracy Camp: Police Powers Overriding the Elected Council

The Eastern District Council was scheduled to hold a meeting convened by the Review of Police Enforcement and Special Operation Committee on March 10. However, the Hong Kong Police Force refused to send officers to attend.

The Civil Affairs Bureau then informed the District Council that they received instructions from the management to cancel the meeting.

26 pro-democracy camp members in the District Council criticised police power has overridden the functions of the District Council elected. The elected councilors said that they will insist the investigation into police violence.

Police expand on 'bomb plots', silent on violence

Police on March 9, Monday gathered the media to again go over what they said was the seizure of tonnes of chemicals destined to be used to make bombs, but refused to answer questions about officers' behaviour at protests on Sunday.

At a press conference reminiscent of the force's daily briefings during the height of the anti-government protests, Cable TV complained that a riot officer had injured one of their reporters by knocking her to the ground with his shield in Tseung Kwan O.

The TV journalist at the briefing asked whether the force would follow up on the incident, while RTHK also asked about the police's treatment of the media on Sunday, with some reporters pepper-sprayed and others held for searches while trying to work.

But the senior officers said they were not there to discuss such issues and the media could seek a response later from the force's public relations bureau.

Instead, the police turned their attention back onto what they had already described on Sunday as a "tragedy averted".

The force made 17 arrests over the weekend in a series of raids, and said they had seized "significant quantities of homemade explosives ready to be used", as well as some 2,500 kilogrammes of chemicals "ready to be manufactured into yet more homemade explosives".

Officers conceded that these chemicals could have been destined for uses other than terrorism, but reiterated that they believed the materials were for "bomb plots".

The police said they will be conducting counter-terrorism drills with other government departments because "local terrorism" is "gaining steam".

Assistant police commissioner Yuen Yuk-kin said the force will speak to other officials to see if there is a need to increase Hong Kong's terrorism threat level, which is now at moderate.

"We will closely monitor the terrorism threat facing Hong Kong and continue our intelligence gathering," he said.

Hong Kong has seen a number of bomb hoaxes in the past two months, as well as a real – albeit minor – blast that shattered a hospital toilet, an "unexploded device" in Shenzhen Bay, and a "partially detonated" device on an MTR train that caused no damage.
