Teen Targeted by Police; Multiple Searches Conducted

1925 | Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui
A teenager wearing black was stopped and searched by the police. He was later released. Upon his arrival to the third floor of Harbour City, which was less than 10 minutes after the previous search, he was searched again. The police threatened him by saying “if I see you once more, I will arrest you and bring you back to the police station!”

The teenager went from the second floor to the third floor and encountered the same group of policemen. A woman negotiated with members of the Special Tactical Squad, and left the scene together with the teenager.

Hong Kong's police were once revered. Now they’re just a blunt tool, ex-cop says

Criticism of the Hong Kong Police Force — once considered "Asia's finest" — has been mounting. In Wong’s case, though, the criticism comes from an unusual source: He is a former beat cop, and not long ago donned the same uniform worn by police officers he is now evading. As a police trainee, he spent months learning about the appropriate use of force. Now, as a protester, he has joined the ranks of those who have accused the police of brutality, unprofessionalism and acting with impunity.

As Beijing’s crackdown on Hong Kong intensifies, more and more citizens avoid speaking to journalists, fearing that it might cause trouble to them. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Wong said he had decided to voice his experiences as a former policeman because of his deep misgivings about his former employer’s response to the protests.

Police Bans Street Offerings for 831 Incident

Police cleared up the altar outside Prince Edward Station, which commemorates the 831 Incident. At 18:40, the police warned all passers-by not to burn any incense or paper offerings or risk violating the law.

At around 18:53, citizens started to burn incense sticks. Police announced through microphone that action would be conducted if citizens continued too burn the incense sticks. They would either be arrested or fined $1500.

Editor's Note: Burning incense and paper offerings by the street is a common ritual in traditional religion originated in Chowzhou culture, which is a major component of Hong Kong culture. Hong Kong police might have inadvertently infringed the freedom of religion in Hong Kong.
