Pro-China Supporters Vandalized Commemorative Cross on the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania

Recently, a commemorative cross of an ancestor on the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania was discovered to have been written with the words "May Roachcock (the original wording included the word "cockroach" in Chinese, with its two characters reversed) rest in peace! May Hong Kong be restored to peace soon", which was suspected to be written by pro-China supporters.

The Hill of Crosses commemorates the history of the resistance and endurance of the Lithuanian people. Expressing hatred towards the protesters at this place is a blatant act of disrespecting history and the spirit of resistance. During the German occupation of Lithuania during World War II, concentration camps were built in Lithuania to slaughter Jews, writing the word ā€œcockroachā€ here is an act of disrespect against Humanism and universal values.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas Linkevičius, wrote on Twitter on #Dec29 regarding the vandalism of the Hill of Crosses by Chinese patriots. She stated that such shameful acts would not be tolerated, and that Lithuanian officials were investigating the case thoroughly.

Editor's note: At the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania, visitors can purchase crosses of different sizes to write and display. However, the erected crosses cannot be destroyed or removed and re-erected.

Police: ā€œProtesters Were Led to Yuen Long Station by Malevolent Ringleaders During 7.21 Attacksā€; Pro-Democracy Legislator Refutes Such Claims

PPRB Senior Superintendent, Kwong Wing Cheung had been interviewed by Cable TV. When asked about the 7.21 Indiscrimate Attacks in Yuen Long Station, he criticised those whom he claimed had "organised the entire ordeal" and "lead protesters to Yuen Long Station".

Legislative Councillor and victim of the 7.21 Indiscriminate Attacks, Lam Cheuk-ting refuted these claims. He reiterated that civilians had been attacked long before he arrived at the scene. He deplored the police force for spreading rumours and lies fabricated by Junius Ho Kwan-yiu, which only served to deepen the existing social divide and intensify phobias within society.

A Taiwanese Church Reveals That Most Hong Kong Students Who Have Fled to Taiwan Suffer From Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

The pro-democracy movement continues in Hong Kong. Some local students who participated in protests had fled to Taiwan out of fear of being prosecuted for political cause.

A church in Taiwan that offered humanitarian aid for these students said that most of them displayed symptoms of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Some young people claimed that they could still smell tear gas even in Taiwan.

The Taiwanese voluntary lawyer organisation which helps these students handle their visas were communicating with administrative authorities, trying to obtain the Right of Abode for them.

South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Moon Jae-in Did Not Give Comments on Hong Kong and Xinjiang Affairs

Editor's Note: The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Xinhua News Agency have purportedly spread fake news on very important diplomatic issues.

South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that President Moon Jae-in did not give an comment on whether the affairs concerning Hong Kong Kong and Xinjiang are part of China's internal affairs in his talk with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

Press releases from many mainland news agencies such as Xinhua News Agency said that ā€œSouth Korea believes that Hong Kong affairs and Xinjiang-related questions are China's internal affairs,ā€; however, South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified yesterday that it is a unilateral opinion from the Chinese government, stating that Moon Jae-in had only responded with ā€œI have heard it clearly,ā€ after hearing Xi Jinping's thoughts on Hong Kong and Xinjiang affairs.

Regarding the statements from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant officials of the Government of South Korea said that necessary communications had been processed through diplomatic channels between the two countries.

Chinese Netizens Seem Disdainful of Everyone Who Opposes the Communist Regime, even God

The following post has gone viral on #Weibo, a Chinese social media:

"On the Hill of Crosses, Lithuania, some 'toxic Hongkongers' (meaning protesters of the movement, who are often regarded as Hong Kong independence activists by Chinese netizens) have placed some crosses inscribed with their slogans. A mainland tourist discovered it and removed the cross."

Lots of Chinese netizens commented under the post, with one of them saying, "Who cares if it is a Holy Cross of the Church. If Almighty God himself were yellow (siding with the Hong Kong Protesters), we would definitely murder him!"

Further comments included, "I am the master of my own destiny" and "God didn't make man; man made gods. (quoting from Cowboy Bebop)"

Detained Canadians sent for ā€˜review and prosecution

It has been 12 months since the arrests of Canadians Michael Kovrig, a former diplomat, and Michael Spavor, a businessman, by the Chinese authorities. It is generally believed that they are being used to bargain for the release of Huawei executive MENG Wanzhou after she was arrested at the Vancouver International Airport on 1 December, 2018. Since then Meng had been released on bail while waiting for trial in her luxurious mansion, while Kovrig and Spavor had been detained indefinitely. Justice Minister David Lametti has expressed concern on Tuesday (10-Dec) about their conditions and the lack of legal counsel.

China Recruit Volunteers to Promote Loyalty in Canada

The consulate-general of communist China is recruiting ā€œconsular liaison volunteersā€ in Vancouver. Being a consular volunteer is an ā€œhonor and a responsibilityā€ and in keeping with the ā€œwatchful solidarity of the Chinese people,ā€ says a recent posting on the consulateā€™s website. A senior fellow at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and former counselor at the Canadian embassy in Beijing David Mulroney believes the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is enlisting Chinese citizens or even Chinese Canadians to monitor and promote targeted individualsā€™ loyalty to China. Pro-democracy groups have become concerned after high-ranking members of the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver and the Canadian Community Service Association appeared in a group picture taken during an 11-day training symposium for recruits. Canadian Friends of Hong Kong believes the volunteer corps is part of CCPā€™s influence campaign to shape public opinions and interfere with Canadian legislation to defend CCP interests.
