Results Find that Tear Gas can Cause Permanent Impact, according to Citizens' Press Conference

The Citizens' Press Conference on Dec 6 analyzed the surveys collected. Results were as below:

Photos: https://t.me/guardiansofhongkong/12865

1) Tear gas affects mainly respiratory system, skins and eyeballs. Results show that around 28% of interviewees have suffered from skin problem. More notable is that around 14% to 16% of them had diarrhea and abdominal pain, which is much higher than cases in foreign countries where about 5% people suffer from the same problem.

2) More than 3,000 interviewees have had skin allergies and even permanent scars, such as red rashes, blisters, red face and red arms after contacting with tear gas.

3) The closer the contact with tear gas, the higher the chance of being affected. Result shows that frontline protesters suffer from twice of the health and body impacts than those who stay indoor, followed by first aiders and press, than other protesters.

Results also find that once tear gas was inhaled, a high level of toxins would remain in the body, even after full recovery of other symptons, thus causing severe harm to civilians’ health.

4) Teargas residues are spreaded over Hong Kong. The most affected districts are Sham Shui Po, Yau Tsim Mong, Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin and Yuen Long.

All in all, everyone, no matter they are staying indoor or outdoor, would be affected by teargas. Hong Kong would become a city full of residual toxins and chemicals, affecting the entire generation.

The Citizens’ Press Conference strongly appealed the Hong Kong Government to stop the humanitarian crisis and stop deploying toxic gas immediately.
